Overview

Maverick independent filmmaker Henry Jaglom receives an in depth, warts-and-all profile in this 1995 documentary, which has been given a DVD release by First Run Features. Who Is Henry Jaglom? has been transferred to disc in its original full-frame aspect ratio of 1.33:1; the film frequently jumps formats from film to video and uses a variety of archival material, so the visual quality is uneven and sometimes a bit on the dark side, though for the most part the movie looks more than good enough to serve its purposes. The audio has been mastered in Dolby Digital Stereo and the quality is fine, though some of the location sound work is a bit messy. The interviews are in English, with no multiple language options or subtitles included. As a bonus, the DVD release includes "Who Isn't Henry Jaglom?," a half-hour interview with Jaglom in which he discusses the film and aspects he feels are inaccurate or exaggerated. Trailers for Who Is Henry Jaglom? was well as four other First Run Features titles are also featured. While Who Is Henry Jaglom? will probably be of minimal interest to people who aren't already familiar with the man's work, the DVD presents the film is good form and with the bonus interview it should intrigue and entertain his cult of admirers.
