Barnes & Noble - Donald Liebenson
This collection of short animated films celebrates Africa's rich storytelling tradition. James Earl Jones narrates Verna Aardema's Caldecott Honor winner, "Why Mosquitoes Buzz in People's Ears," a cause-and-effect folktale about a mosquito who causes escalating chaos that must be sorted out by the Lion King. Striking animation re-creates the intricate woodcut figures of another Caldecott honoree, Gail E. Haley's "A Story, A Story," which chronicles the origin of the Ananse "spider stories." James Earl Jones returns to narrate Verna Aardema's "Who's in Rabbit's House," in which masked actors perform for villagers the story of a rabbit and the clever frog who helps him outwit the intruder in his house. Another enriching addition to the Scholastic Video Library, this captivating volume adds welcome multicultural diversity to this wonderful series.

I think "Why Mosquitoes Buzz in Peoples Ears" is a great book because it teaches you why mosquitoes buzz in people's ears for no reason. I think I would want to read it again. It would be a very good book for little children in West Africa. I will never forget when I first read it.
