Editorial Reviews

Barnes & Noble - Cree McCree
Avoiding the preachiness that plagued Ellen's landmark lesbian season, Will & Grace was an out-of-the-closet comedy right from the start in 1998. Taking a cue from My Best Friend's Wedding -- wherein Rupert Everett delighted audiences as the gay bosom buddy who had all the answers for Julia Roberts -- Will & Grace dove into the narrow but clearly defined divide between the hetero and homo worlds. Evident from the start is Eric McCormack's casual charm as Will, a gay New York lawyer who is made for his best friend, Grace Debra Messing, in every way but one. With her wild mane, quick tongue, and knack for physical comedy, Messing was born to play Grace, a successful interior designer whose personal life is, well, a mess. A ratings hit from the get-go, the show also had its detractors. Some thought the producers played it too safe in this first season, and the charge has some merit. Dumped by their respective lovers, Will and Grace move in together but remain in relationship limbo for all 22 episodes, with no new boyfriend for either one though Grace dallies with Will's estranged brother and both have eyes for a sexy new tenant. But even without the romantic entanglements introduced in later seasons, Will & Grace shines. This is due in no small part to the stars' sidekicks: the ultra-swishy Jack Sean Hayes and the ultra-snippy Karen Megan Mullaly. There's also a marvelous guest-star turn by Debbie Reynolds as "The Unsinkable Mommy Adler," a former showgirl who lives to upstage her daughter Grace.

Will and Grace -- The Best

Will and Grace has to be the best show on TV right now. Even though, Jack and Karen are funny, the situations with Will and Grace are hysterical!!!! I am not gay, but, the way the show protrays gays is great. I love the way the show allows for both heterosexual and homosexual point of views. What other show can pull that off? None. Debra and Eric and Sean and Megan are perfect!! Could not ask for a better cast!! You can tell they really do enjoy their jobs and each other.

Cain't get enough of you baby!

Will and Grace is the bee's knees! It's hilarious! I think Will and Grace teaches you a thing or two about gay people...(I am not gay) (but I have a lot of close people to me who are and a lot of inspirations who are) I think they are just great! Keep it up!

Out of the closet & onto the store shelves!

This is a great collection for those of us who became fans after the first season. I wish I had Jack's wit & Karen's tongue!

    Jack 2000!!!!

Jack is the funniest man in Will and Grace. He is mostly funny when he hits on guys or tries to be an actor. He is also funny when he hangs out with his son!

    Can't stop watching it

It's difficult to watch just one. I find myself staying up well past midnight just watching these episodes. It's great to not have to race home by 9PM....and you still get a dose of Will & Grace.

FINALLY!- A DVD worth watching over again and again!

Will & Grace had been a favorite show of mine for around a year now, and even though I've seen basically every episode on reruns, it's fun to watch again and again. Eric McCormack is great as Will, a not-so-gay lawyer who, in the first season anyways, lives with his best friend Grace (Debra Messing), a straight decorator who isn't so lucky in love. There is an amazing supporting cast in Karen (Megan Mullally) and Jack (Sean Hayes) as Grace's alway drunk and bitter assistant and Will's extremely gay friend. Though it could have some better extras (outtakes, anyone?), it's worth the buy, even for a not-so-big fan of the show.
