    more from this reviewer

    Living is tough

Movie is straight forward showing how ordinary folks live and confront complications arising (mainly) out of various relations they love or hate. I liked the portray of the troubling family with grown-up girl with little brother/sister along with aged mother. Grown-up girl who is trying to live and confront complications.
I did not like the ending and it left me wanting. It seemed to me as if the movie ended prematurely. May the movie was trying to be more realistic and therefore ended with a bad note.
Note: there are jaw dropping special effects in the movie. It's a real plain stuff. It's also not a feel good kind of commercial cinema.

Wonderful, superbly acted, well-cast, and spellbinding drama of

Wonderful, superbly acted, well-cast, and spellbinding drama of a young woman trying to protect her family from the harrowing consequences of her father's disappearance and a vicious, powerful, rural drug/crime family. The bucolic location in poverty-stricken rural Ohio gives the story a new dimension and a razor-sharp edge. Jennifer Lawrence's Oscar-nominated portrayal of a courageous, feisty teen is remarkable, but every performance is wonderful. Do not miss this one.
