Editorial Reviews

All Movie Guide
This surprisingly rousing production combines the visceral tension of the best mob movies (dapper psychos, gangland slayings, wiretaps, etc.) with smarm-free scenes of women developing emotional relationships. Hence, Wisegirls has equal doses of testosterone and estrogen, giving it that rare ability to appeal strongly to both men and women. There are several surprises along the way that are the icing on an already entertaining cake, and the overall production values are terrifically human-scale. Mira Sorvino does a wonderful job in a role that has its maudlin moments -- the treacle would have flowed through lesser-skilled hands -- but Glitter-girl Mariah Carey fully redeems herself in a brave and earthy role.

Lurches along to Win Your Heart

Basically a female-bonding film that goes from innocent fun to ghoulish dark, and back again, it's worth watching especially for Sorvino giving one of her best performances.

The 3 Ms (Mariah, Mira and Melora) performs outstanding-ly

Well, i'm surprised that i really enjoyed this movie sooo much and i have to give around of applause for the team who made this movie happened especially the casts.. They are soo outstanding and i'm surprised after much of a bad publicised critics regarding Mariah's acting in Glitter, she proofs everyone wrong in this movie.. She is talented and honest in this film. Same goes to the ever wondeful Mira Sorvino and Melora.. Now i regard THEM as a REAL ACTRESSES.. Good Job to all who made WISEGIRLS an enjoyable movie to watch..

    FANTASTIC!!!

In all honesty, I thought this movie was going to suck. Was I ever wrong. This was a fantastic movie. Mira Sorvino is one of my favorite actresses and she did wonderful. Mariah Carey played her role beautifully as well, and even though her movie Glitter bit the dust she totally redeemed herself. Absolutely LOVED it!

I know Mariah got a lot of bad reviews for Glitter (which was not all THAT bad) but she really shines in this movie. I was quite amused! GOOD MOVIE

    Crime Never Looked So Good!

Academy Award Winner Mira Sorvino, Grammy Award Winner Mariah Carey, and Actress Melora Walters star in this independent Drama with a lot of blood, gore, and heart! Contrary to popular belief, Mariah Carey is actually quite the actress! She definately proves it in this film with her role as ''Raychel'' (the tough New Yorker type)! Mira Sorvino also shines in this film as ''Meg'' (shy, but smart)! Melora Walters, too, gives a command performance as ''Kate'' (dancer/actress with a secret)! This film is a must-see! Don't pass it up just because you're disappointed with Carey's actin in ''Glitter'' because she really does well in this film!

    Worth seeing. Compelling. Violent.

This was a pretty good movie. It was very violent in parts, and very realistically so. A very good range emotions, well executed. Mira Sorvino's character was compelling, and her acting was skillful. Melora Walter's character was complex, and the performance was good. I felt Mariah Carey's acting was the only really awful part of the movie.
