Witches (1990)

Overview

Nicholas Roeg's adaptation of Roald Dahl's The Witches comes to DVD with a standard full-frame transfer that fails to reproduce the original theatrical aspect ratio. English and French soundtracks are rendered in Dolby Digital Stereo. There are no subtitles, but the English soundtrack is closed-captioned. There are no real special features on this release. THIS IS MY FAVORITE MOVIE OF ALL TIME! THERE IS NO MOIVE THAT EVEN COMES CLOSE. I LIKE HOW THE LITTLE BOY GOES THROUGH ALL THESE ADVENTURES AND THE WITCHES ARE MEAN TO HIM. IF YOU DIE BEFORE SEEING THIS MOVIE THEN YOU WILL HAVE A TERRIBLE AFTERLIFE, EVEN WORSE THAN YOUR REAL LIFE IS. YEAH ITS THAT GOOD. THE MICE IN IT ARE NEAATO TOO. SEE IT OR YOU MIGHT AS WELL NOT LIVE AT ALL ANYMORE.

    The Witches

This is another creepy and weird movie and seriously Angelica Huston was very very creepy and unrecognizable with all the makeup after removing her mask. I kept thinking how is this for kids. So it might be for kids older. The kid and grandma were nice and that story about the girl being trapped in the painting freaked me out when i was a kid.

    A reviewer

This is a fabulous adaptation of Roald Dahl's classic and features an ingenious performance by the great Anjelica Huston. It never gets old for me. The filmmakers didn't treat this like they were making a family film. They made a movie that pulled no punches and is incredibly entertaining.
