Barnes & Noble - Christina Urban
Anthony LaPaglia returns (and wins a Golden Globe) as Jack Malone for Season 2 of Without a Trace, another CBS hit from CSI producer Jerry Bruckheimer. Malone heads up the FBI's Missing Persons Squad, a special task force that combines profiling and psychology with traditional investigative techniques. Malone's team includes agents Samantha Spade (Poppy Montgomery), Vivian Johnson (Marianne Jean-Baptiste), Danny Taylor (Enrique Murciano), and rookie Martin Fitzgerald (Eric Close), all of whom work together with the aim of finding a missing person within 48 hours. Viewers follow the team in their race against time to find out just who the victim was -- which leads them to determine whether it's kidnapping, suicide, murder, or another circumstance. This season gets personal as Malone goes through a bitter separation from his wife, while also caring for his Alzheimer's-afflicted father, Frank (Martin Landau, nominated for an Emmy for his role). We also discover that Taylor was an orphan, with a brother who is now a felon, and that Fitzgerald was raised by an aunt who suffers from a terminal illness. In the cliffhanger season finale, Malone makes a last-ditch effort to reconcile with his wife and kids by leaving the team and promoting Johnson. Keep an eye out for familiar TV faces during this 2003-4 season as well, including: Jessalyn Gilsig from Heroes; Prison Break's Paul Adelstein; Tamara Taylor of Bones; The Closer's J. K. Simmons; House's Lisa Edelstein; and Lost's Daniel Dae Kim.
