Good acting especially by Harrison Ford and Lukas Haas, like the cinematography and of course the soundtrack was really good. The music reminded me a little bit of Blade Runner for some reason, which is also another really good soundtrack.
I saw Witness in the movies way back and loved it then. I bought the tape and recently bought the DVD. Harrison Ford plays a Chicago cop who accidentially becomes involved with an Amish family due to the amish boy witnessing a murder. Kelly McGinnis is awesome. The outcome of the movie is of course the good guy wins, but I was always very disappointed that Ford and McGinnis characters didn't take a chance with each other. Yes I know, so chickish, but Im a chick!! Can (and have) watched this movie many many times.
This was a very well acted and directed film. Danny Glover is great in a rare villain role and harrison Ford gives one of the more nuanced performances of his great career. I was perhaps most impressed with the perfomance of Lucas Haas as the title character. He brought a lot of depth to a character considering he has few lines. I appreciate that Ford and Mcgillis cannot be together in the end. It seems more realistic, allowing for a healthy respect of people from two very different societies.
I agree with the other reviews here, adding that this remains one of my all-time favorite movies, and I see a lot of movies! It is haunting and mesmerizing and gorgeously filmed. It is also one of Viggo Mortensen's first films. Can you spot him?
Great film that holds your interest through the entire movie. Interesting blend of the Amish culture with the suspense and murder. Harrison Ford is great! Very well done, highly recommend this movie.
having lived near where this film took place, i must credit the director, actors & writers with getting it right. the Amish are a wonderful people and were very accurately portrayed, including the local accent. of course Harrison Ford was superb, as usual. the plot was believable and kept you wondering throughout the movie, how will it end.
