The movie differs somewhat from the book, however it was an excellent movie. I'm sure that it will be hard for some Viet Nam vets to watch. It shows the bond of brotherhood created when men fight in a war side by side. Only those fighting together in war could possibly understand this bond, and how something like this could actually happen to a soldier. It doesn't make it right. I doubt that war ever brings out the best in any of us, and this movie shows how it can bring out the worse in us.
