This series admittedly was pure silliness glorified to the nth degree. I originally thought it was a series version of "Meet the Parents" but then discovered it was actually based on a BBC sitcom similarly titled "Worst Week of My Life". For a rare turn of events, unlike most American shows based on British shows this was every bit as funny and as good as the original series. The story lines revolved around a poor schmuck (played winningly by Kyle Bornheimer) trying to win the respect and love of his future in-laws. Unfortunately the poor guy tries and tries continually getting himself into dreadful situations and he always makes things worse by trying to either put things right or explain what had happened. Fate just doesn't give this guy a break! Bornheimer has great comic timing and is surrounded by a wonderful supporting cast Kurtwood Smith ("That 70's Show") and Nancy Lenehan as the in-laws to be and Erinn Hayes as his pregnant fiancée. It is safe to say that it would of been hard to maintain this extremely high level of mishap for an ongoing series so it may be best that it was canceled. But it will be missed, at least by my brother and myself who watched it every week of it's all to brief run. I can't remember when we laughed as hard and as loud as we did during this show. True this was never great art but as a guilty pleasure it doesn't get much better. Some folks found this show and it's situations to be completely unbelievable and too exaggerated but, that was the whole point of it. Give it a try, you just might laugh until you cry like we did!
