This movie uses the same formula as an role-playing video game - the bad guys outnumber the good and every once in a while they encounter a boss with special powers, ultimately reaching the final overlord of the evil group. The characters are sort of predictable too - the tough yet vulnerable female lead; the brooding, mysterious male counterpart; the wise old man (an anime standard - see Ninja Scroll, Wicked City, etc.). That said, the movie is actually not that bad. What it amounts to, though, is Ninja Scroll with less character development, a thinner plot, less sophistocated animation...you get the picture. Wrath isn't bad - it's just overshadowed by a much better production. Good addition to a collection, or good to watch if you haven't seen NS yet.
