As someone who is rather inflexible and who is beginning to explore the world of yoga, this is an incredible product! I like to go to yoga classes, but have trouble fitting that into my schedule and following up in the weeks that pass between classes. So I had tried yoga videos by rodney yee and others, but found them to be far too fast paced to follow along, and had pretty much given up on them.. This is completely different from regular yoga videos or videos that have been transferred to DVD. There are sections on 1) standing poses, 2) seated poses, 3) strength and flexibility, 4) beginning basics and 5) shoulders and hips. It is made so that you can move between these sections to customize your workout and replay sequences within sections, when you want to see it again. There's a ton on this DVD, hours and hours of different workouts, and it's fun to try and do different parts on different days. I wanted to give it 6 stars, but they only allows 5!

I recently purchased the DVD after reading a review of it in Yoga Journal and I couldn't be more pleased. Although I wouldn't classify myself as completely inflexible, I'm also not gumby. The instruction here is very thorough and gives lots of detail, including very in-depth detail on how to do the poses, and also direction on using props (if you want or need to). I guess this is what some may refer to as ''slow?'' If you're focussed on what you're doing and follow the direction, I can't see how you would not feel anything. It's important to understand that there are several different kinds of yoga and differnt approaches within each type. This is not power yoga. You're not meant to move at an aerobic pace with Iyengar. You will get very in tune with your body, breathing and how these work together. If you're a beginner who wants to really learn yoga and make it a part of your life for the long haul, you will greatly benefit from the dvd. If you've been doing yoga for awhile, or if like me, you aren't completely inflexible, you will still benefit from the detail and will probably find, like I did, that there are poses you thought you'd mastered but could still perfect. I like that I can choose a workout to focus on specific body areas, and choose workouts for specific purposes (like relaxation, or energizing). Nothing can take the place of a class with a qualified instructor. It's well worth time and money to take some classes at a yoga studio, but a good tape can really help and suplement your practice at home. If you're a beginner or want to get more depth to you practice, you will not be disappointed with this dvd.

I recently purchased this DVD. This is my first foray into the world of yoga, save a summer school class I took 2 years ago. I bought the DVD and was so disappointed in it that I took it back-- or tried to. The store wouldn't take it because it was open. Should've told them it was defective and gotten my money back. It was very dry and just didnt keep my interest at all.

and the background is horrible. The way the video is 'cut', they'll show the woman in one pose and then in the next frame she's doing something else. I just found this to be hard to follow and the set was so empty that it felt like someone's garage. The music and voice over, are also for lack of a better discription, boring (not relaxing though). I'm on this site looking for a different yoga DVD.

I'm amazed that other reviewers haven't seemed to notice that the audio description is often the opposite of what the model is demonstrating. For example, when the audio says raise your right arm over your head, the visual shows the model raising her left arm. I haven't watched the entire video so can't speak for all the segments. One hour of frustration is enough. Will try to return this one.
