Editorial Reviews

All Movie Guide
Zombieland is downright delightful. Somewhat surprisingly, a movie about a post-apocalyptic cross-country road trip through an undead nation converted almost entirely into legions of the cannibalistic undead is really about the simple pleasures in life: stuff getting destroyed in balletic slow motion, cowboy heroes wielding John Woo-style double hand cannons, and of course, Twinkies. Pair these timeless themes with solid zombie-centric humor, and you've got comedy-horror gold. The cowboy hero in question Woody Harrelson goes by the name Tallahassee, since that's where he's headed when he runs into the main character Jesse Eisenberg -- whom we call Columbus -- on one of America's now countless abandoned highways. It's been a couple of months since your basic bite-borne rage virus swept the country, but there are still a few stragglers left uninfected, like Columbus, who gets by on the paranoid nature that once made him a shut-in, and Tallahassee, who gets by on pure badassery. Soon, they meet up with a couple of sisters, Wichita and Little Rock Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin, and the quartet ends up driving west together. Along the way, they engage in some intensely hilarious comedy dialogue -- stuff so clever and well orchestrated that it often transcends the audience's line between laughter and full-on glee. In fact, the humor could hold up even without the gloriously gratifying zombie action sequences, but the movie's handling of the ass-kicking and gore is top-notch anyway. Director Ruben Fleischer deserves major credit for clearly knowing intuitively how to work a double barrel shotgun, a Garden Weasel, and a zombified clown into a scene for maximum satisfaction. With such a solid grasp of both the wonderfully funny and the awesomely violent, it looks like Fleischer is wielding his own pair of action hero-style pistols, and we get the pleasure of watching him know just how to use them.

    !@&$ing HILARIOUS

Zombieland is a hilarious movie. I suggest this movie to anyone who like sexual humor and Bill Murray appearances. Yes even a Bill Murray appearance is included in this movie. After this movie you'll just want to sit down and eat a twinkie.

    A funny, if predictable movie

Here's a movie that comes along once in a generation. It's funny in a predictable way, but with a little bit of "Friday the 13th" thrown in. The plot line is simple and predictable, but the script and screenplay are what really make the movie. I rated the script only 3 stars because it's predictable, but it really fits the screenplay well. As for the screenplay, the characters interact well, even if they're not fully developed. I like a good Sci-Fi thriller, but I don't usually go in for the blood and gore type movies. This one is a mix of both, but when it comes to the blood and guts it's not the least bit scary. Instead the screenplay uses a number of delivery devices that make the mayhem amusing (for example, a nun dropping a piano on an undead assailant). All told, this is a movie I'd pull out in late October just for kicks. Enjoy!

Move Over Shaun of the Dead! Zombieland Takes 1st Place!

I saw this movie twice in the theatre. Cracked me up! Though I liked this better than Shaun of the Dead, don't get me wrong...Shaun of the Dead was still great! I love that movie! However, after seeing Zombieland, Shaun of the Dead took the runner up spot in my book. There is some good zombie action, most particularly in the beginning and near the end, with little bits of stuff at scattered points in between, and also a lot of great humor that had me rolling in the aisles on several occasions. All the actors are pretty funny in their own ways. Bill Murray even makes a hilarious cameo appearence a little more than half way into the movie. He is such a talented comedic actor! (If you have not yet seen Zombieland, you'll understand why I listed Ghostbusters as one of the recommends below after you have seen it). I just recently got myself a Playstation 3, but have not yet bought a Blue Ray movie yet, but I am thinking that I will make this my first Blue Ray purchase. If you love a good zombie movie, but also love good humor, then I would definitely recommend checking this movie out if you haven't already. It's a good time...defintely worth while. Caution: There is some zombie gore in this movie, so if you are squeemish at all with that sort of thing, steer clear. Otherwise, check it out folks!

    Hilarious!

I have always been a fan of various zombie movies, including funny ones. Well, as much as I still like Shaun of the Dead...move aside! This one officially took 1st place over it in my book. There was good zombie action in this mixed with some outrageous humor! If you love a good zombie or comedy flick, or don't care much for zombies but still love good humor & can stomach just a little gore, then you should definitely check out this movie! I was just about rollin in the aisle several times throughout this movie. Bill Murray also makes a hilarious cameo in this. I totally recommend this movie! I will be getting it on Blue Ray. 2 thumbs up! Below are a couple of other good zombie flicks and a few funny titles containing actors from Zombieland that I recommend.
