The audio is presented in Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround in English as well as Dolby 2.0 Surround in French and English. The 5.1 sound mix is very good with many instances of surround use in both the front and rear speakers. Zoolander features lots of bombastic music and effects, and the soundtrack takes advantage of these to the fullest extent. Also included on this disc are subtitles in English. This "special collector's edition" of Zoolander includes a ton of bonus materials that should please male models everywhere. Starting off the disc is a commentary track by star/producer/co-writer/director Ben Stiller and writers Drake Sather and John Hamburg. This is a funny commentary track the pokes fun at the film while simultaneously giving insight into the production and story. Five deleted scenes are included with optional commentary that is actually very funny, and five extended scenes show what was cut from the final print of the film. Some outtakes show the cast and crew flubbing up their lines or actions. An alternate title sequence is a different version of the end credits that is really rather pointless. Two skits from the VH1 Fashion Awards are included that give a rare peek at the birth of the Derek Zoolander character. Finally, there is a music video by the Wiseguys, some promotional spots and trailers, and a few photo galleries of some costumes, characters, and stills from the film. All in all, this is a very fine DVD edition of the wacky comedy Zoolander.

A movie that began life as a skit for the 1996 VH1 Fashion Awards, Zoolander survived expansion to the big screen with its belly laughs intact. Writer-director Ben Stiller portrays Derek Zoolander, a male supermodel eclipsed by hot newcomer Hansel Owen Wilson, whose stoner chic makes Zoolander look like last season’s leftover. A titanic battle of the egos ensues as these two world-class airheads jockey for runway supremacy. Of course, the fact that neither star looks like a male model makes the whole thing that much funnier. About as subtle as a Bob Mackie sequined evening gown, Zoolander is an over-the-top spoof of the fashion world peppered with moments of deliciously dead-on satire. It boasts some truly hilarious set pieces and throwaway bits -- watch for the carefree romp at a filling station that ends in "tragedy." The cast includes Stiller’s entire family: his wife, Christine Taylor, portrays a spunky girl reporter who uncovers a nefarious plot involving a megalomaniac fashion designer, and his dad, Jerry, appears as a sleazy agent. Stiller's mom, Anne Meara, shows up in a cameo, as do numerous celebrities and fashionistas. Amid the scattershot proceedings, Wilson's idiosyncratic charms allow him rise well above the fray -- whether he’s posing in a tiara or engaging in a tense runway "walk-off" with his archrival. Yes, Zoolander is a one-joke movie, but when the joke is this funny, who cares?

Reality Bites, an attempt to summarize a generation, and The Cable Guy, which attempted to make a grand statement about the dangers of television, were uneven films that displayed a talented filmmaker whose reach exceeded his grasp. Zoolander finds director Ben Stiller poking fun at the world of fashion models. While it is fair to argue that so simple a target should be child's play for a talented comedian, Stiller finds just enough variations on the vapid, shallow people that populate this world to keep things running smoothly for the film's running time. His ace in the hole is Owen Wilson. Wilson's performance as Zoolander's archrival Hansel (who looks like Roger Daltrey wishes he looked in Tommy) manages to be just enough like Zoolander to show that they are birds of a feather, but different enough to show the variations on the comedic elements that make up these two characters. Stiller and Wilson successfully find different ways to use their voices to humorously express the stupidity of the characters, while simultaneously mining the physical comedy that results from mocking the preening posture and movements of male models to add to the comedy. Their ten-minute "walk-off" (the fashion world equivalent of the rumble in West Side Story) is as funny as anything else Stiller or Wilson has done. Stiller has finally found, in the superficial world of famous beautiful people, a subject he knows well enough to satirize completely, pointedly, and even a tad lovingly.

    Very stupid- I loved it!

    This movie is FULL of laugh out loud moments, some of my favorites being the "center for children who can't read good" scene in Mugatu's office and the scene where Matilda finds Zoolander when he's getting a massage at the day spa. It gets a little slow in some places, but makes up for it with perfectly placed laugh out loud moments. And there's TONS of celebrity cameos...which really added to the excessive ridiculousness (is that even a word?) of this movie. It's older, so it's cheaper than most movies, yet worth every penny. :)

    Stiller and Owen hit the funny bone

    better than expected

    Several minutes into this film, I worried that it was going to be a bust, but by the end, it was better than expected. This movie plays out a lot like Austin Powers-similiar in style featuring a dumb male model instead of the secret agent. I liked the soundtrack of this movie a lot and it was worth watching just for that. Owen Wilson is not too bad either... My main complaint with this movie is that it was flat. David Bowie was in it (always a pleasure to see him) but he wasn't utilized much. The art direction was competant, but it could of (and should of) been more pronounced. A lot of this film's success depended on the comic tone and the scenery was a bit too bland to carry the story along. The plot was dull and uninspired however this wasn't an issue for me because the story is about a dull and uninspired model anyway. For the most part, all the elements needed to make a reasonable film were there and it was in balance, but there was a need for a little more "oomph"

    Brilliant with Extra Bonuses

    The movie in itself was great. The story was something different from everything else that was out there (at least the ones worth seeing). Hilarity ensued throughout the entire thing. Then when David Bowie enters the film, it turns it from a 4 star into a 5 star. What a brilliant move. The bonuses on the DVD were mostly wonderful, but all the trailers resembled each other a bit too much, but that's to be expected. If you want to see something entertaining, this is the movie to purchase.

    Gets better every time you watch it

    The first time I saw this movie, I thought it was so-so, but we had bought it, so we started watching it when friends came over. Now, I absolutely love this movie. Will Ferrell is amazing. The movie wouldn't have been the same if Andy Dick were able to accept the role of Mugatu.

    INCREDIBLE AMAZING MOVIE

    Freakishly hilarious, Zoolander is a masterpiece of writing and acting that often spawns endless quoting and making a fool of yourself. I TOTALLY RECOMMEND IT!!!

    Male model movie of the year!

    This movie is hilarious! The whole movie is funny and Will Ferrel tops it off in the end. Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson make great male models!
