BY TORI: I LOVED IT FROM BEGINNING TO END! CAN'T PUT IT DOWN!!! IT HAS ALL THE COMPONENTS OF A GREAT ROMANCE NOVEL. IT'S WITTY, GREAT STORYLINE, VERY ROMANTIC,AND TENDER AND YET IT SOOOO HOT AND STEAMY!!! I FOUND MYSELF CRYING AT ONE POINT IN THE STORY WHERE SARAH FELT SO ALONE AND NEEDS COMFORTING AND CAHILL CAN'T DO IT DUE TO CONFLICT OF INTEREST AS A COP. LINDA, THANK YOU FOR DOING SUCH A FABULOUS JOB FOR BEING SUCH A GREAT STORYTELLER. LOOKING FORWARD IN READING YOUR NEXT BOOK.

Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged. This book is romantic suspense, heavy on the relationship drama and light on the suspense. I loved some parts. The dialogue/banter between the two main characters had me chuckling at times. I liked both characters and the storyline was interesting, if not a bit predictable.
Unfortunately, for me, too many things didn't work. I found the story dragged, with lots of repetitious inner thoughts about the merits of each character getting involved in a relationship with the other. I didn't actually see much of a relationship. The two characters only seemed to interact when having sex. Then, at the end when the killer is revealed, the story feels suddenly rushed. I didn't think the investigation aspect was well thought out or enacted. The last of several times that Sarah is considered a suspect verged on the ridiculous.
Overall, the drawbacks took away from otherwise great writing and made this on okay read.

Linda,
"Dying to Please" had a great story line. I would have absolutely loved it had it not been the overuse of the "f" word, and the explicit sex. How many times can you say "his ding-dong was going up and down like a yo-yo?" Or, "he couldn't sit down because he was so stiff." GIVE ME A BREAK !
I do have a question: do all of your books have the above mentioned flaws ? I would love to read your books, if there is not this overuse of sex. Incidentally, I can see where you make it a longer book. By at least 25%.
Sincerely,
Helen

This is the first time I think I have read one of her books and it won't be the last. In fact I really need to get to the book store and hunt for some more. The romance between the main characters is great , plus I of course liked the ending with the killer. I would love to find more books with these characters in them, even though I'm sure there aren't.
A great book, highly recommend.

Great balance between suspense and romance. Very hot, not only just the story but the underlying sensual story.

I really enjoyed this book. In fact, I read it twice. Linda Howard makes her characters strong and independent. This book definitely is a page turner

Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.one word "awesome" yeah the story was great..as one of the reviewer says that the romance between the two main characters is fast pace. i could say also that it's just being realistic.it's a hard to put down book.the more you read the more you'll get to know who's the bad guy here.one of my best choice in reading a romance suspence novel is that not only the leading man could be heroic in the story but also the leading lady.tough, independent woman but ofcorz you can't deny the fact that she need comfort too.this is my first book of ms.linda howard and 100% sure it won't be the last :)

This is the first book I read by Linda Howard and I could not put it down. Although Sarah and Cahill's relationship progressed pretty quickly, I felt it was realistic, as opposed to two characters simply jumping into bed together. Yes, Cahill's got the protective cop thing going on, but I loved how Sarah held her own and was just as tough. She's definitely not weak and helpless, as you can see from the very first part of the book. I really enjoyed reading this and was sad when it was over...I wanted more! Sarah and Cahill are pretty hot together. Maybe Linda should write a second book with them :)

This book was suspense-filled from the beginning and had a wonderful romance within. Sarah was a strong independent woman that we could all picture ouselves being. She had the worst luck with her employers dying, until it was found that she had a stalker. Her romance and fighting with Cahill was very realistic.

This story grabbed me right from the beginning. When I first picked it up, I didn't put it down until I read half of the book. Great characters in Sarah and Cahill. I love the romance. I kind of wish there had been a little more mystery around who the stalker was, but all in all a great story.

Well I do, and I loved this book! Definitely one of my favorites. The plot is suspenseful, and I like the whole stalker theme. The best part, though, is the romance. I became very engrossed in the relationship between the two main characters...towards the end I even got a little teary-eyed! If you're like me and enjoy the whole scenario of the independent woman being protected by the strong, tender man, you'll like it. Wonderful romantic mystery.

What a wonderful book. I don't tend you like a 'who done it' but you never really have to wonder 'who done it' in this book you're told almost right away. Everything that Sarah has to go through to get on with her life after the murder of the judge that she works for and than the other couple. Man, and trying to get past that damn cop that she more or less lives with. You think you know someone and then the believe you can murder the people that you work for and love! Not in this life time and Sarah doesn't think so either. Read and enjoy. See if she and forgive the one man that she gives her heart too and he kicks it around just because he's a big bad cop.

This book is really good! Positively charming, romantic, and suspenseful. It kept you guessing...waiting for something big to happen. Another reason I loved this book is because it's in my home state not to mention it is close to where I just moved to! I have to say, I don't really like Milo's that much but my brother LOVES it.

This is one of the best books I've ever read. Linda Howard has an uncanny knack for imobilizing the reader until the last page is turned. I found myself gripped by the dual plots of mystery and romance. My only regret is that I didn't discover this masterful storyteller sooner; I have a lot of catching up to do!

This book which is based in my hometown of Mountain Brook, AL combines a thrilling mystery with hot romance. The devoted Sarah Stevens loves her job as a bodyguard/butler and will do anything for her employers, but she has stalker that greatly hinders her ability to serve.

Overview
Loyal. Beautiful. Professional. Impeccably organized. Potentially lethal. Sarah Stevens is a woman with many distinct qualities. First and foremost a butler par excellence, skilled at running large households smoothly and efficiently, she is also a trained bodyguard and expert marksman–indispensable to her elderly employer, a courtly gentleman whom Sarah has come to respect and love as a father. Then one night she thwarts a burglary in progress, a courageous act that rewards Sarah her requisite “fifteen minutes of fame” with the local press. But the exposure is enough to catch the ...
