Overview

Game, Set, Match... Dylan? Dylan and her TV-host mom are off to Hawaii's Aloha Tennis Open. While Merri-Lee interviews tennis's wild child Svetlana "Tennis the Menace" Slootskyia, Dylan lets the tropical sun melt away the memory of getting dumped by two guys at the end of seventh grade. But between avocado mud masks and poolside naps, she falls in love with a preppy, tennis- obsessed hawtie. Dylan soon realizes the only way to score a date with him is to master the game. Can she convince moody Svetlana to spill the secrets of her tennis success, or will she end up oh-for-three in summer love?

Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble
For Dylan, this was supposed to Slim Down Summer, her chance to get a Maui tan and a girlish figure for her upcoming year as an eighth grader. All those plans got shelved, however, when she encountered handsome, friendly, tennis-obsessed Johnny. Before you could say "thirty-love," she jumps into the net sport as though there's no tomorrow. And unless she can sharpen her game, there might not be. A nifty brisk read.
Children's Literature
In the second book of "The Clique Summer Collection," Dylan is not to please to be spending the summer at Hawaii's Aloha Tennis Open while her TV-host mother interviews tennis star, Svetlana Slootskyia. Dylan intends to spend the summer soaking up rays by the pool and ignoring everything tennis, but after meeting J.T., a hot boy obsessed with tennis, Dylan quickly changes her tune. Dylan's only hope to win over J.T. is if she can persuade Svetlana into making Dylan a tennis expert in just a few weeks. Will Dylan succeed, or remain loveless for the summer? Harrison's soap opera plot, filled with intrigue, blackmail, and surprise twists, is bound to entertain some pre-teen girls, especially if they are already fans of the series. Keeping with the soap opera theme, all the characters, including Dylan, are cardboard cut-outs and immensely shallow. Some readers will find this, and Dylan's self-obsessed and spoiled brat personality, annoying, particularly if they are not into reading stories about trust-fund babies. Reviewer: Melissa Joy Adams

    Book Review
    By: Cassandra Deremer
My book is called Dylan. It is by Lisi Harrison. She has a series called The Clique. Dylan is one of the main characters in those books. Over the summer she made a new collection about the five main characters Massie, Dylan (as I am reading), Alicia, Kristen, and Claire. I think this book was so far was the best of all of them. I will tell you a little bit about it. Well, it is about Dylan Marvil's summer. Her mom is a TV show host for The Daily Grind (that is a TV show in the book). She interviewed a professional tennis player named Svetlana. They are in Hawaii. She meets a boy named J.T at a store. His dad owned it and he invited them to his party. She hung out with him all the time. She told him she was into tennis even though she hated sports and he thought she liked it and gave her a bunch of tennis out fits for her to wear in Hawaii to tennis matches with him. He asked her to play with him some time and she told him she would. Then she told him she was really good friends with Svetlana. She said that she was better than her and he asked if he could come watch them verse each other. She said she wasn't sure. Then she told him he could. Later on Dylan and Svetlana got into a screaming fight and she recorded it and held it as a grudge. She asked Svetlana to teach her to play tennis and she said okay if afterwards you delete the video. They agreed. Then she taught her and worked her very hard. She went to a match with J.T. Then a week later he came to watch Dylan and Svetlana verse each other. They had practiced to let Dylan win. While they were playing he took her phone and deleted the video for Svetlana and after the match she went to find her phone and he gave it to her. She asked him why and he said to delete the video and she said why would you do that? He said well why would you lie to me? Then she felt really bad for lying to him. She was mad that he betrayed her for Svetlana and became a ball girl to make her mad. She was infuriated. She talked to her mom about the whole situation and she didn't say anything. Then she went to the match to watch Svetlana and she complimented her while she was playing then Svetlana lost and came after Dylan. She ended up getting in big trouble and lost J.T along with the match, but Dylan felt good and got another guy after all. Well, that's my summary for the book Dylan. I definitely recommend it. I give it five stars!

    Ah-mazing!

This was an amazing book. Just because it's short, doesn't mean it's not good. Lisi finally pays a bit more attention to Dylan and her life. Though I liked Kristen's story a bit more, I still haven't read Massie or Claire.

    good.

i usually don't read books like the clique. i'm more into action, mystery, and fantasy. but to my suprise, i ended up enjoying this series. its all about Massie Block, Alicia Rivera, Dylan Marvil, Kristen Gregory, and claire lyons. they are the pretty committee and they rule the school. its full of backstabbing and gossip and new words like LBR (loser beyond repair) and ah-mazing and ehmagawd and Ah-bviously. i recommend this series because lisi harrison is an ah-mazing author. if you liked this i also recommend hottie, bras and broomsticks, how to ditch your fairy, airhead, and violet on the runway.

    DYLAN; A TRUE BETA!

Dylan rocked the Summer Collection. She is by far the best of all of the 5 summer collection. It is funny, but yet slightly touching. I mean, whats better than a two-faced tennis player and a rich beta! I recommend it to all! Read on!

review of Dylan a Clique novel, the Summer Collection

In my opinion, this wasn't the best out of the series. But it was a good book. I think it had a REALLY good ending, that was my favorite part of it. (I'll try not to give it away though). This book really made me want to go and exercise because it talked about that most of the time; books can sometimes have that affect on me. I would recommend this book to any teenage girl who likes to read about drama and wants something to relate to. The good thing was that besides having drama, there was a little bit of comedy thrown in. The book is about how Dylan is on a trip in Hawaii, where she meets a tennis star and a guy she gets a really big crush on (J.T.). So Dylan ends up blackmailing the tennis star to help her get J.T. to like her back. It was a good book and I enjoyed reading it.

    Fun!

It was pretty good, better than the Massie book. It was fun to read. I havent read the rest of the Summer Collection, but I think i should (even though it is already winter right now... lol) because this little series gives the clique readers a chance to get to know the characters better! i cant wait to read Alicia.

DYLAN is the second book in THE CLIQUE SUMMER COLLECTION, and lives up to the reputation of the CLIQUE series.

Dylan and her mom (who is a famous TV personality) travel to Hawaii to interview the world-famous tennis player, Svetlana. Svetlana has recently gotten out of rehab for her anger management issues, and this is her first match and interview since her last incident. Dylan and Svetlana get in a little tiff, but as a Clique member there is no way Svetlana will come out on top -- and with the guy Dylan wants.

    Is there?

Dylan is quite the conniver, I must say. This was another great addition to the series as a whole, and I can't wait to read the rest of THE CLIQUE SUMMER COLLECTION!
