A month later I entered the United States Navy, Serving onboard (2) nuclear power submarines as a Quartermaster, for four years. After being honorably discharged from the Navy in 97, I Joined the Delaware dept. of Corrections, quickly making rank to sergeant in less than two years. I also served on the elite CERT Team. Still feeling constrained like I wasnt living up to my fullest potential, I started acting (film and TV) in 2001, joining the Screen Actors Guild in 2003. I was closer to finding my home in the entertainment industry, while still trying to find my niche. I self-published my first novel Dysenfranchised Lovers which was released in mid 2007. Feeling good of my achievements i released my 2nd novel Euphoric Revelations in 2010. 2011 was a great year for me i not only released my 3rd novel Lies Confessions & Consequences, but i released it under my own publications called King4life Publications. I am a devoted husband and father of two boys. To date I continue to write, because it frees my mind and allows me to create anything I desire on paper. Family first, but after God.

On the outside, Jamal is a smooth, charming, sophisticated brotha - but on the inside, he harbors a dark, secret addiction. Unlike many others, though, Jamal doesn't crave weed, liquor, or speed; rather, his drug of choice is women. In the aftermath of an unfortunate series of events, though, Jamal finally decides that he needs a change of pace; so, he relocates to San Diego in search of the one thing that's eluded him for far too long: a good woman. The only problem? It may be too late for him to learn from the mistakes of his past in order to prevent the hope of his future from escaping his grasp... Throughout the pages of Dysenfranchised Lovers, author Brian L. King introduces the reader to a conflicted soul whose trials and tribulations many of us are sure to find more than familiar. The restless spirit that he is, Jamal can't help chasing after the true desires of his heart - no more than he can help getting in the way of his own happiness. As such, he serves as a shining example of the importance of learning from one's past in order to keep from having to repeat it time and again. Convincingly crafted in vivid, strikingly real fashion, Jamal's character is the ideal linchpin for an ever-evolving tale of high drama, furtive deceit, and misplaced loyalty. A sobering reminder of the often agonizing pain that always accompanies - and forever defines - true pleasure, Dysenfranchised Lovers is a moving, heartrending read. Cherie Mangum Apex Reviews
