Overview

Based on actual medical practice and experience, Brad Lewis' Dysplasia takes the reader behind the secret closed doors of the elite medical world, revealing shocking truths about what really goes on in the lives of prominent physicians. The world of Dysplasia is filled with intrigue, darkness, and mystery -- the underside of upper-echelon MDs.

Dysplasia tells the story of Dr. Donald Gardner, a renowned OB-GYN specialist and his famous senior partner, Dr. Henry "Call Me Hank" Chessman. The novel opens with a mob converging on Dr. Gardner's hospital. The press, police, hospital administrators and Harlem clergy are in a feeding frenzy. The story that follows explains the events that led to that moment -- a tale replete with Fifth Avenue addresses, exotic vacation homes, renowned medical practices, beautiful wives and high-powered men determined to stay that way.

Dysplasia is a novel grounded in reality. It is a work of fiction missing from the literature of our modern era. The darkly realistic detail and medical panorama make Dysplasia a powerful and compulsively readable novel.

Brad Lewis is a novelist, playwright and biographer. He is a graduate of CUNY with a degree in Psychology, NYU and Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons. Lewis lives with his family in Los Angeles.

Book Reveals Seamy Underside of High Profile Doctors

Dysplasia, written by a celebrity biographer and former "surgeon to the stars," has many people wondering -- and more than a little concerned -- about that next trip to their trusted doctor.

Dysplasia, by Brad Lewis, examines the sordid lives of esteemed physicians in a high-profile New York OB-GYN practice. Filled with kinky sex, egomaniacs, and greedy doctors who perform "medically necessary" operations to increase cash flow, Lewis' depiction of doctors includes massive doses of infidelity, sexual deviancy -- even murder.

Editorial Reviews

Bookreviews.com
It’s a medical thriller that chronicles the road to Hell of a renowned OB-GYN whose sexual habits are bizarre. This is not for the squeamish and it should not come as a surprise that it is written by a surgeon, Brad Lewis.

He maintains that his portrayal of high-profile surgeons is not an exaggeration and, if true, you will not want to let one of this fellows get within a mile of you. The interplay between inflated egos and dependent patients works against the background of unnecessary operations, the profit mentality of many medical practices, and frightening inattention to new research. In short, physicians will hate this book, but readers will no doubt find it fascinating, if not terrifying.

Midwest Book Review
In Dysplasia, oral surgeon and novelist Brad Lewis uses a fictional format to examine the sordid lives of esteemed physicians in a high-profile New York based OB-GYN practice. The parade of characters includes chauvinists, egomanics, and greedy doctors performing ethically and medically suspect operations to increase their cash flow. Lewis' depiction of "celebrity doctors" and their celebrity clientele is interwoven with infidelity, sexual deviancy, racism, and murder. Dysplasia is a thoroughly fascinating, totally compelling and contemporary novel of sex, drugs and deviancy.

    Dysplasia

This is a real page-turning-thrilling-chilling novel. I guess you can tell I liked it. It's like the commercial -- this guy is good! Lewis paints a dead-on dismal picture of our health care system. He's got the docs right where he wants them. Highly entertaining and startling real info. The ladies will like this, too.

    Don't miss Dysplasia

Dysplasia, by Brad Lewis, is the most original, fascinating and suspenseful book I've read in years. I could not put it down. After I finished it I cancelled all my doctors' appointments. I'm going to thoroughly check them all out before I let them lay another hand on me! I'm definitely considering switching to a female ob-gyn!! By all means get this book right away.

    Dysplasia

I read this book in one night; could NOT put it down! The story is well-written, quick moving and the plot has some great twists. Only problem: I will be thinking twice next time I go to my Ob-GYN!

    Dysplasia

Who knew doctors were so weird? If half-of the stuff in this book is based on reality, I shall be cancelling my next check-up ... thank you very much! A great book to read, butlet's just hope it's all made up.

    Dysplasia

I picked up Dysplasia not knowing what to expect, and I have to say -- this is one heck of a book. Lewis writes about creepy, weird and simply bizarre doctors, much like the kind of stuff we see in the newspapers. The story takes a lot of turns and twists, and left me often surprised. It's a bit creepy to think that there are doctors like this, but it sure makes for a great book.
