Overview

Known for many years as Barron's Easy Way Series, the new editions of these popular self-teaching titles are now Barron's E-Z Series. Brand-new cover designs reflect all new page layouts, which feature extensive two-color treatment, a fresh, modern typeface, and more graphic material than ever- charts, graphs, diagrams, instructive line illustrations, and where appropriate, amusing cartoons. Meanwhile, the quality of the books' contents remains at least as high as ever. Optimized for use on the Nook, Barron's E-Z books are self-help manuals focused to improve students' grades in a wide variety of academic and practical subjects. For most subjects, the level of difficulty ranges between high school and college-101 standards. Although primarily designed as self-teaching manuals, these books are also preferred by many teachers as classroom supplements-and for some courses, as main textbooks. E-Z books review their subjects in detail, and feature both short quizzes and longer tests with answers to help students gauge their learning progress. Subject heads and key phrases are set in a second color as an easy reference aid. This heavily illustrated, self-teaching guide to ASL-American Sign Language-is useful both for the deaf and for those men and women who teach or work among deaf people. E-Z American Sign Language presents ASL's 10 key grammatical rules and emphasizes the use of "facial grammar" as an important supplement to manual signing. Most of the book's content takes the form of a presentation of more than 800 captioned line drawings that illustrate signs for their equivalent words and then show how to combine signs in order to communicate detailed statements.

    Easy to Understand

This book was both easy to understand and informative. It does not just show you the signs for words but explains ASL grammar as well. I would recommend it.

    Poor sample

Of the three ASL book samples I looked at this one had a very poor sampling. In 33 pages they presented these pages:
    Cover
    Title page
    Dedication
    Acknowledgements
    Copyright page
Table of Contents (the only useful sample)
    Note to Student
    Introduction to ASL

What I didn't get was a single sample of a picture with instruction. Are the pictures drawings or pictures of real people?

This is where e-books fail. Some books do not even include a Table of Contents.
