super second chance at love regency romance

In 1806, Brian Ranson married Gillian, but before going off to war in the Peninsular, the Earl spent his last hours in England with his mistress instead of his young shy wife. When he fought against Napoleon in Portugal, she thrived taking over the running of his property profitably.

In 1810 Brian comes home to a strong sassy spouse who blithely informs him she plans to have a lover Andres Ramigio and divorce her husband. He is taken aback and attracted to his wife he scandalized four years ago in front of the Ton and recently having been back home for six months before coming to claim her. Brian and Andres are prepared to duel over Gillian so she agrees give him thirty days to make amends and win her over.

This second chance at love regency romance is a delightful tale as the Earl learns claiming and keeping is not quite the same thing. The story line is fast-paced from the moment Brian comes for Gillian only to have her reject him. Sub-genre fans will enjoy this fine tale of a politician who learns what love is but the lesson may prove too late as his rival has been much kinder and nicer to his wife than he has been.

    A big letdown

This book had such big potential. I read the summary and I was so excited. I was disappointed after I read the book. The book was good in the beginning but I thought the writing was hard to follow. It kept switching views too quickly without even a line of separation. In that respect it was hard to follow. Also I thought the book was too short. I was close to the end of the book and I looked at how many pages I had left and I thought "The author cannot possible finish the book" but she did. The ending was rushed. Almost like the author had to finish the book by a certain time and she couldn't make the deadline so she cut out 50 pages. In short I was extremely disappointed.

    Decent read

The hero of the story, Brian, was fabulous; however the rest of it left a lot to be desired. Gillian seemed like a cut-out character. Also, there were just too many big misunderstandings, which could have been easily avoided with honesty.

    Not the best

This book had a great premise, but definitely fell short for me. It was too short and the ending felt rushed.

    Not a fan...

When I can't find myself caring too much about any characters in the books (including all the minor ones), I know that this isn't a good book. I think if the author had taken more care in building up the couple, we might be more sympathetic or understanding. But I felt like the book was rushed, a lot of elements thrown in for no good reason, and very very unsatisfying at the end. Usually the book can somewhat redeem itself by how it wraps up, but this one definitely didn't. Save your money and try other books!
