    Excellent, reliable scholarship

This book is an overview of the first 800 yrs. of Christianity. The author doesn't have an axe to grind, so you get history, not opinion. Very well written; I would recommend it to any Christian that is serious about knowing the roots of their faith. For those of us raised in the protestant tradition, it is quite an eye opener.
