Since 1928, Warner Bros. has produced thousands of beloved films and television shows at the studio's magical 110-acre film factory in Burbank. This collection of evocative images concentrates on the Warner Bros. legacy from the 1920s to the 1950s, when timeless classics such as Casablanca, The Maltese Falcon, and East of Eden came to life. It also looks at WB's earlier homes along Hollywood's "Poverty Row," the birthplace of Looney Tunes, and the site of WB's pioneering marriage between film and sound in the 1920s. Early Warner Bros. Studios also tells the tale of four brothers--Harry, Albert, Sam, and Jack Warner--scions of a Polish Jewish immigrant family who rose from the humblest of origins to become Hollywood moguls of enormous and lasting influence.

Title: Local Historian Chronicles Warner Bros. Studio

Author: Juliana Menchaca

Date: 9/8/2010

Try to imagine Santa Clarita in 1935, before Awesometown, before traffic congested our cityÂ's streets, and even before the establishment of this city. Now imagine Charlie Chaplin waddling down Sierra Highway, holding hands with co-star Paulette Goddard of the last silent film ever made, Â"Modern Times.Â" Who would have known that Santa Clarita is home to the end of an era?

Writer, historian, and director at the Santa Clarita Valley Historical Society, E.J. Stephens describes Santa Clarita as a city with a colorful background in film and media. In fact, Stephens says Santa Clarita is, Â"Truly the Old West. This was the spot were thousands of westerns were filmed and portrayed to the rest of the world.Â"

Originally from Indiana, Stephens has been a resident of Santa Clarita for almost 7 years, through the Santa Clarita Valley Historical Society, he learned that Santa Clarita was a place of film history.

Always with an interest in the film industry, Stephens worked for more than 20 years at Warner Bros. Studios and on break time he would explore the sets and be absolutely fascinated by the rich history behind it. This fascination led Stephens to create a book that showcases just that, the history behind Warner Bros. Studios.

Â"I became pretty interested in the history of this studio. I felt like I knew the place and I had a pretty good handle on it,Â" said Stephens who teamed up with Marc Wanamaker to put evocative images of Warner Bros. Studios to detail the fiery history behind the studios, Â"When I came to write the book, I really didnÂ't know anything about the place.Â"

As his co-author, Wanamaker, brought out unique images from his notable repository, Bison Archives, Stephens would work to find out the history behind the old black and white photographs. The book which was released last month is titled Â"Images of America Early Warner Bros. StudiosÂ" and features more than 200 unique photos that focus on the legacy of the Warner Brothers and their studios, home to such classics as Â"CasablancaÂ" and Â"East of Eden.Â"

Stephens explained that behind the infamous Â"WBÂ" symbol is the fascinating tale of Harry, Albert, Sam, and Jack Warner, poor Polish immigrants who started early in the theater business and climbed the ladder to become iconic film industry moguls.

Trouble was constantly brewing between the brothers as the studioÂ's notoriety grew and eventually created a schism between them.

E.J. Stephens will be signing copies of his newly released book at the Barnes and Nobles Bookstore in Valencia at 2 pm, Saturday, September 11 at 2 PM.

It was a very important day for the Hobbits of Shire University. Today was the day which Bilbo Baggins, Frodo's uncle and the Professor of Technology at Shire, would be turning 77, a very important number Merry, always the geek, would point out was "Magykal. No, Sam, with a 'yk', not a 'ic.'"
Fatty was even telling everyone that Gandalf, Bilbo's longtime friend would be coming to the party, and had an array of magic tricks to show off. Gandalf was an excellent magician, although he was very often withoit the props needed to do the magic.
"Magyk." Shut it, Merry.
Anyways, Rosie was going to detach herself from the community service team for one night to come over, and they planned to stay up all night eating pizza and watching old Dr. Who reruns.
Eventually, the evening arrived, the Hobbits finished their classes, and they all rushed over to Bilbo's office, getting there just as the first of many delivery men stopped by. Gandalf was already there, and he and Bilbo were already in full swing, The Ark in Space playing on the huge flatscreen.
"You started already?" Merry gasped, causing Pippin to roll her eyes.
"Oh no, Merry. They started watching that episode again. It's not like you've already seen it a million times." Pippin was Merry's roommate, and had to deal with the constant watching of Star Wars, Star Trek, Dr. Who, and other "nerd stuff." She didn't really mind, though.
"You never know," Frodo said, helping himself to a slice of pizza, "Merry might explode if he misses five minutes of an episode." This caused them all to laugh heartedly.
Many Pizza's and Doctor who's later, not to mention having to pull Sam and Rosie apart so they could sing happy birthday, and they were almost wrapped up. Bilbo stood up and clapped his hands.
"Before we all go to bed and lose ourselves in dreams of Daleks and Qeeping Angels, I wish to make an announcement. As you know, This is my 77th birthday. It's also the tenth anniversary of my adventure with Gandalf and the dwarves. I jus--" Suddenly the lights went out. The sound of breaking glass sounded through the room, and complete chaos ensued.
"Ow!!"
"Fatty, that's my toe!!"
"Where's Sam?"
"Righ-oopmph!!"
"Lights!"
The lights snapped on at Gandalf's voice command. He looked around the room. There was all the Hobbits... but where was Bilbo? It seemed odd that Bilbo was missing.... Suddenly, things clicked together inside Gandalf's head. He looked at the broken window, then at the space where Bilbo was standing five seconds earlier. There was a familiar eye symbol there. "Ahh.." He aaid.
"What is it, Gandalf?" Frodo asked.
"Nothing that should be spoken of this late, my dear Frodo. Come! Let us go to bed. We will unravel this mystery in the morning... Detecive style!" With that, the Hobbits silently exited the room and went to their dorms. When they had left, Gandalf checked the safe that Bilbo always kept behind his tv, and breathed a sigh of relief. The Golden ring.. The OneRing.. the reason that the minions of Sauron would ever come to Shire University, was safe. For now.

I admired our leader,Drizzlestar, and our deputy,Fallclaws. Soon Drizzlestar died. I was Silverpaw then, and desperate for revenge. I killed Bumptail, the EvilClan warrior who had killed Drizzlestar. Fallstar got persuaded by my father, Stormydrought,to make me a warrior. Fallstar agreed with his deputy. I was Silverfeather. Then came Needlekit. He was the evil, sharp-eyed kit. I despied him so! But i kept it a secret. I told only my most trusted friends. I felt so bad. Soon Needlekit became Needlepaw,my sister,Chirpfur's apprentice. Chirpfur grew to like him. Soon, my father died becuase Needlepaw killed him,but he lied he killed Stumpyjaw who killed Stormydrought. Stumpyjaw drowned. Needlepaw became Needleclaw, and my sister was oh so proud!
