This book is great for the purpose that it was intended for. I bought this so I can tutor my sister and it contains a good amount of information for the Regents course preparation. It has been about 3 years since I have taken Earth Science and for me I was able to look back and remember topics that I have forgotten over the years. My sister has failed her Earth Science Regents countless times and it seems that she is making progress with this book. However, this book is solely made for review, hence the title. Get this book only if you are taking the Earth Science Regents course and if you plan on studying what you learned everyday. My sister is currently not able to take the Earth Science course and because of that her understanding of the material in the book is limited. Based on how this book helped me remember the topics I studied in the past I can tell that this book is mostly helpful for reinforcing what you should already know. Do not get this book if you plan to study for the Regents at the last minute. This book is meant for studying daily or every other day along with your own classwork.
I bought this book about two months before the regents and it was so long and detailed that there was not enough time to read it. I am sure it is a great help for those who buy it in the beginning of the school year and use it as a textbook companion. Unfortuanatly, not so helpful for last minute crammers. I found it too detailed and difficult to understand. You really don't need to know everything that they put in there--- only the main key points.
