Editorial Reviews

Booknews
Kingdon (zoology, U. of Oxford) concludes his monumental work with these two volumes on the bovids (see preceding entry). An artist of impressive gifts, he is an acute observer and masterful interpreter of the form and function of body shape and size, horn and tooth conformation, and coat patterns. His research is extraordinary; his drawings myriad and masterful. It is a bit embarassing to comment upon a set that so nearly approaches perfection. No collection in natural history dares pass up this model of the genre. This is a faithful reprint of the Academic Press original (1971-1982). Annotation c.
