Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Zella Cunningham
The Dessert volume from the "Easy Cookbooks for Kids" series will appeal to beginning cooks because of its colorful pictures, simply worded directions, and easy-to-navigate pages. Before being introduced to dessert recipes from eleven countries, the reader can learn about safety in the kitchen, some helpful methods, terms, and tools that, when followed, can be used to produce successful recipe results. Recipes from Mexico, Ghana, Thailand, Russia, Australia, Italy, Poland, Greece, Canada, Germany, and Argentina are included in this volume. Some recipes require the use of a stove; others are a simple matter of mixing ingredients. However the dessert is prepared, the directions are easy to follow and the accompanying picture shows the preparer exactly what the finished product should look like. The reader can get a glimpse into the culture of the country from the introductory facts preceding the recipe. Those who would like additional information can refer to the section at the back of the book for additional reading sources. Reviewer: Zella Cunningham
