Meet the Author

As a child growing up in San Diego, Sheri McGregor remembers lying in the grass watching tiny bug-worlds crawl by. Today, with five children of her own, McGregor still watches bugs—and sometimes feels just as tiny among the towering trees, majestic mountains, and freeflowing waters of San Diego County. Authoring hiking guides allows McGregor to enjoy the local wilderness with a purpose—sharing her love of nature with readers.

In addition to writing about nature and the outdoors (in 60 Hikes within 60 Miles: San Diego and Day&Overnight Hikes: Anza-Borrego Desert State Park), McGregor holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology, has published two novels, and writes about a variety of subjects. From psychology and fitness to travel and home decor, her nonfiction articles, essays, and short fiction have appeared in themed anthologies, a supplemental textbook, and national/international publications, including The Washington Post, Salon.com, Reader’s Digest Publications, LA Parent, InfoWeek, Sunset publications, and San Jose Magazine. On local television and around town, McGregor enjoys speaking about hiking and nature, and their positive influence on physical and mental health.
