This delightful and authentic cookbook brings together 101 of the best recipes in this venerable yet humble tradition, each dish a contest winner culled from thousands of entries nationwide.

Homespun, brimming with tradition, and filled with treasured recipes, this collection is sure to please everyone who grew up with a Jewish grandmother's home cooking!

Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
Judging from the recipes included here, the Zismans apparently did not get an overwhelming response to their latest contest (they are the authors of The 50 Best Pizzas in the World, The 47 Best Chocolate Chip Cookies in the World, etc.). It would be pretty depressing to have to think of Mock Chopped Liver (made with canned peas), Gingersnap Burgers, and Chocolate Tofu Pie as among the "best Jewish recipes." There are many good Jewish cookbooks available, from Jayne Cohen's Gefilte Variations (see above) to Joan Nathan's classic Jewish Cooking in America (LJ 1/94); skip this one.
