Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble

In his 2003 bestseller Eat to Live and its follow-ups, Dr. Joel Fuhrman made a winning case for a revolutionary program for fast and sustained weight loss. In Eat to Live Cookbook, he finally answers persistent calls for a complete book of the plant-based recipes that we need to stay alive and thrive. This illustrated hardcover cookbook contains more than 180 recipes that fit that bill, but also a shopper's guide for choosing the best ingredients.

Publishers Weekly
Dr. Fuhrman is actively involved in scientific research in human nutrition. His most recent scientific study on food addiction and human hunger was published in the scientific journal, Nutrition Journal, November 2011. Dr. Fuhrman is the research director of the Nutritional Research Foundation. 10/14/2013
New York Times bestselling author Joel Fuhrman, M.D. (Eat to Live, Super Immunity and The End of Diabetes) welcomes readers to the Eat to Live family through his new healthy and enjoyable lifestyle cookbook with recipes consisting of optimum nutrient-dense foods. Prior to introducing readers to a 10-chapter plant-based recipe section, Dr. Fuhrman shares nutritional science, inspiring success stories, and provides practical advice especially in his "Guide to Picking the Best Ripe Fruit" and "Cook to Live" sections. "The most important building block of health is nutrition," Fuhrman writes, as he encourages his followers to eat "larger quantities of nutrient-rich foods and fewer foods with minimal nutritional value" through an impressive array of delicious recipes. Highlights include: "Pomegranate Refresher," "Tuscan Tofu Scramble," "Apple Bok Choy Salad," and "Dr. Fuhrman's Famous Anti-Cancer Soup." As Dr. Fuhrman reminds his readers, "If you want to maintain your good health and enjoy life to the fullest as you age, the secret lies in what you feed your body." This worthwhile cookbook offers satisfying, nourishing and user-friendly recipes for a nutrient-rich life. (10/14/2013)

Great book, has all kinds of great recipes whether you are a carnivore, vegan or nutritarian.

This a comprehensive cookbook. I am a Furhman fan, did not have any special health issues, but saw his program on PBS and thought about going into my senior years minimizing any senior age health problems that one encounters. My family has a history of strokes. I easily lost 25-30 lbs. without really trying, just ate differently and did not feel deprived at all. At that time I purchased the 3 Steps to Incredible Health bundle. About a year later, I purchased this cookbook which ties everything together and gives great suggestions on how to make your own interesting combinations. I love that you can make vegetable broths without salt, seasonings without salt, tasty cheese substitutes, fantastic tasting but healthy deserts and so on.

    NO PICTURES

This is a review of the COOKOOK, not the eating plan. As others say, the recipes are terrific. I was disappointed to discover however that this e version doesn't have a single picture. I should have bought the book from amazon for $20.

Best thing that ever happened to me!

In just 6 weeks follow Dr. Fuhrman's recipes I have lost 20 pounds and my cholesterol is now almost normal. My body feels great and the inflammation I felt just a few weeks ago is vastly improved. On my way to great health thanks to the Nutritatian lifestyle.

    AWESOME!!!

I have a hard time finding recipes that do not use oil, dairy, or sugar and here is a whole book dedicated to such recipes! AMAZING! There is a brief introduction about life as a nutritarian and why it is important for those not already up to speed. All of the recipes I've tried are delicious and easy - even my non-nutritarian family members said the pumpkin pie with tofu (no oil, eggs, sugar...) was not that bad! Making progress! Anyway, highly recommended for those new to the lifestyle and unsure of where to start when in the kitchen.

    Great book

Actually it would be good to have this as a book with paper, but I have been following Dr Fuhrman for a month and I have lost some weight. It is a little difficult at restaurants, but the diet makes sense. I have so much weight to lose. I also have the Fitbit Flex to help with the process and also I am using the Wii Fit most days.
The diet makes sense all the fruits and veggies and beans I want and staying away from sugar, salt, oils and dairy. Not saying I miss burgers, meat, real cheese and pizza and ice cream, but smoothies help with almond/coconut milk and frozen bananas. I need to sleep better, but all in good time. I believe I can do this now.... I have a responsibility to take care of the temple of my body so I can easily function at age 64 in a week....

Excellent and informative book with delicious recipes.

The information at the beginning of the book that explains about foods was very helpful. Some ingredients, spices and all are different than what I have on hand. Lots of vegetable recipes. Would like to see more w/meat although I realize he is a vegan...
