Editorial Reviews
From The Critics
Reviewer: Karen S Yehle, PhD, MS, RN(Purdue University School of Nursing)Description: This book provides information about ECG interpretation in an easy to understood, fun manner and includes the usual ECG basics and more advanced content. There are a number of algorithms that are simple to follow.
Purpose: The unstated purpose is to provide information and to serve as a reference for ECG interpretation. This objective is laudable and the book successfully meets it.
Audience: A specific audience is not identified, but it is suitable for students and practitioners. It is written in very easy to understand language and it is very easy to locate topics in the book. Both contributors and consultants are identified, but authors for the specific sections are not listed.
Features: The authors discuss basic electrocardiography and the more common arrhythmias, as well as basic 12-lead electrocardiography and advanced ECG interpretation. A very well written section about pacemakers and ICDs is also included. Arrhythmias that can occur as a result of potassium or calcium imbalances are briefly touched upon. One shortcoming of the book is that after an abbreviation is provided for a term, only the abbreviation is used later in the text. For someone who merely desires to look up one arrhythmia or problem, for example, this can be confusing.
Assessment: This book delivers what it promises.
