    Altering our Mindset

    Since when does taking care of and respecting our environment happen by indulging in the material? Now! Eco-Chic Home is not about denying the beauty and pleasure of a well-made product; rather, it is about appreciating what we have, seeing it is an extension of ourselves and respecting its ability to give back - for years to come. The underlying premise of this book is a sustainable idea in and of itself. While I am not a die-hard doer, I am a believer that we as a society should extract more meaning from what we already have. Eco-Chic Home sees the many uses of the everyday, reinterpreting a tired set of dishes into a fabulous tiered cupcake stand or reinventing the grandfather clock via paint and a bit of whimsy. Really, our daily lives are already beautiful and this book shows us how and why! The "Eco-Bits" sprinkled amongst the how-tos - along with the authors deep knowledge of how and where to eco source - are fun to read, even if you don't plan on making a magazine bowl or reupholstering a flea market chair any time soon. By reading this book, you will change your mindset and habits. Here's to doing good, with style!
