Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Heidi Hauser Green
This first book in Jan Gerardi's "Teenie Greenies" board book series shows people traveling via a wide variety of environmentally-friendly methods, with wheels and without. From riding the bus and ride sharing to skipping, strolling, skating, hopping, strolling, running, and more, people get where they need to through earth-friendly means. Children are shown throughout, and the message is clear: even the youngest people can demonstrate care for their world through their actions. Ultimately the people stop long enough to plant a tree. Rhyming text uses simple words to carry the momentum through seven spreads, complete with lift-the-flaps that engage young readers (and fingers). Gerardi has illustrated several books in the past, and this is her first foray into writing them as well. It's not her last; the "Teenie Greenies" series currently has two additional titles: The Tiny Composter and The Tiny Gardener (forthcoming, January 2012). Printed on 80% recycled paper with soy ink, and coated with a water-based varnish. Reviewer: Heidi Hauser Green
