    Ed Gein-An Original Inspiration of Horror

    Ed Gein was a true original Deviant and source for countless nightmares. Nowadays, with serial killers running around saying 'see how many I killed!!' and 'Lookit what I did', we need to rediscover Ed Gein's enormous contribution to the world of Horror. He was a true original, in all reality mentally disturbed. He dug up bodies 'so he wouldn't be alone'... wore other people's faces and danced around in the moonlight. He just went about his business and just happened to get caught. He was not trying to shock anybody, as so many seem to try to do today, but he was trying to ease his lonliness in the world in the only ways he figured that he could. He created furniture and everyday items out of human skin-and remember that this was back in 1957 when you just didn't hear about stuff like that happening at all!! A true original in a time of pale copycats.... This is a great book, right up there with 'Deviant' by Harold Schechter. I wish there were more books available about Gein. I often wish I could go back in time and peer through Ed Gein's window at night.....

    Confusing

    I found this book hard to follow and confusing. Although I originally thought I was buying a book about the life and history of Ed Gein and his crimes, it was about his impact on the horror movie industry and his comparison to major characters, such as Leatherface. The author's writing style was confusing, and I found myself losing interest quickly. I was disappointed.

    About his legend

    If you want to learn about Ed Gein read a different book. If you want to learn about his legend read this book. It's split in 2 parts. Him and his legend. The author goes through each movie and how it relates to Gein.

    strange

    this book was very disturbing. i also saw the movie 'ed gein'. it had some strange images that stay in your mind.let me just say the book was much more interseting! i also want to say that robert g. you have some weird fantasy.. wanting to go back in time to look through ed gein's window at night .... whatever.

    wonderful reading

    I was interested in this book. I read this book in two days! But, I was disappointed in the last couple of chapters due to the fact they were more about other movies than the book itself. I enjoyed it and passed it along to other family members.

    a must read

    a great read. british printing has an intro by lux interior of the cramps. anyone know how to get ahold of paul anthony woods? got someone from wisconsin with a bunch of gein material that would be useful for a revised edition. please write if ya know his address.
