Overview

Living in a future she doesn’t understand, given to a man she doesn’t love, and fighting to uncover a secret that may destroy her, Lisa Anton discovers there are worse things than a plane falling out of the sky. Get ready to laugh, cry, and fall in love all over again with the survivors of Maddy Barone’s, After the Crash series.

Lisa Anton was a world-famous fashion model before her plane crashed in a post-apocalyptic future where women are precious and rare, and technology is only a memory. Offered as a prize in a Bride Fight for the best fighter to take home, Lisa becomes the wife of a man she barely knows. Gorgeous and passionate in bed, her new husband tells her he loves her. But does he?

From the moment he saw the blonde beauty, Eddie Madison was determined to make her his wife. Beating a dozen other men in the Bride Fight was child’s play for him. Learning to be a husband is a bit trickier. She wants his complete trust, but Eddie has spent his entire life guarding a secret that could destroy their happiness. Is protecting his secret more important than winning his bride’s love?

Meet the Author

Hello, I’m Maddy Barone. I have a B.A. in History, which is probably why I work in the financial department at Medicare. I am a baroness in the Society For Creative Anachronism, an international educational organization which studies the Middle Ages and Renaissance, where I get to dress up in clothes from the Italian Renaissance that I sew myself. My evenings are devoted to writing and spending time with friends. In my free time I also spin and knit and play with my three rescue cats.

The author addresses some delicate subjects and does it well. The gradual development of domestic abuse by the hero is frightening. He rationalizes, making excuses and blaming others including his wife. The heroine's very poor self esteem, her constant need to please everyone and the way she allows her spouse's manhandling in the name of being a "good wife" were hard to read. In the end she takes a stand, leaving him to face life without her. She demands that he, not his scapegoat, accept responsibility for his harming her. She will not allow him to finger point any longer. Even though he is consumed by fear, he strives to recompense. Honestly confessing all, with true remorse. His wife, NOT his mother rightfully takes place as his first priority. The characters are well developed and intriguing. While the story line is compelling, it is definitely the darkest of the four in the series. I would encourage others to read the series in order, as opposed to reading Eddie's Prize as a stand alone. Well done.

This is one of the best books I have ever read! I have read the entire series and they have been worth every penny I paid for them. I would highly recommend the entire series to anyone and everyone! I can hardly wait for the next one! I am not a hugh fan of series book writting because it locks you in to buying the next one. Occasionally, there comes along an author who can write a series you feel like you are a member of that community and you are eager to learn what is happening in your friends lives. The other such series of books I feel like this with is Diana Palmer's Long Tall Texans.

    Great

Great series. The writer is able to suck the reader into the plot, I actually forgot where I was while reading! Hope there will be more of these. I am not a shapeshifter fan, but these are so well written, I have been converted!
