Meet the Author

Inspired by the completeness and originality of J.R.R. Tolkien and authors like him, John Leach spent most of his young adult life with a sweet-tooth for fantasy. Working in the fields of genetics and nanotechnology, his Master's research birthed the idea for a different breed of fantasy, a series that in time would take the reader from the depths of fantasy to the shores of science fiction.

Surprising. Good cast of characters on a dynamic adventure.

A mix of humor, sass, action, and magic... I was skeptical at first but loved it by the end. I didn't expect much of a 'love' element, per usual with fantasy adventure novels, but I was happily surprised by how it came through and was left laughing and grinning as it panned out. I'll be recommending this book to most of my girl-friends. It read well, didn't have much, if any, profanity, and thoroughly entertained me. In the end I even cried... Certainly didn't see that one coming. I want to know what happens next so, yes, I will be buying book two.

An entertainingly well-written and fun snowball of an adventure.

I know snowball might sound like an odd descriptor for a book, but I find no other word more fitting after reading it. Though the book got off to a semi-slow start it hooked me soon thereafter and only got better the more I read. Some parts tugged at my heart strings, more than that left me smirking or laughing, and a select few left me outright angry. I'm a little afraid to know what my blood-pressure was when I read the climax. Honestly, I've never wanted an antagonist to take a dirt nap so bad in my life. I'd say this book is most suited for 13+, fantasy, and action / adventure readers. If the second book is anything like the first, count me in.
