    Interesting Concept, Terrible Execution

I have had this book for almost two weeks and am only battling page 43!!! How it got published without proper editing is beyond me. I will applaud the author for getting his ideas out there; however I have never read a book so filled with run-ons, chopped sentence structure, poor movement, etc. It's more like a draft than anything else. I'm no English major but I was wondering if I had gotten a bad copy of it until I read another reviewers comments. Readers beware...reading this story requires you to correct spelling, fill in missing words and ideas, and question why you enjoy reading in the first place. It's hard to care for the characters when you can't even clearly understand what's going on. Much as I enjoy an interesting story I'm not sure I'm willing to work this hard to be entertained and finish it (which upsets me more than the thought of a zombie apocalypse). I've never just not finished a book. It's almost as if a zombie wrote it. I should shoot it in the head and put it out of its misery. (novel, not author of course) Respectfully: Get an editor and try again.

    An Amazing Read

This novel has quickly become one of my all-time favorites. Tony Monchinski really encapsulates the zombie genre quite amazingly with both his descriptiveness and his storytelling; quite a feat when one is writing about rotting corpses trying to consume the living. While the setting is typical of the zombie horror flick, Tony makes sure that you are not bored with the surroundings. Each turn is perfectly described with enough detail to keep you waiting for the next bit of action...and there is PLENTY of action in this book!

Tony does an excellent job of brining the characters to life as the book unfolds and you really get a sense of understanding of their plight. I found myself easily empathizing with the struggles that they are made to endure as the limits of human survival are tested. I am not ashamed to admit that reading this caused a number of emotional upheavals from shock, to anger, even despair to arise. I was quite thoroughly impressed by this; most especially since one can easily botch a read in this particular area of horror.

But my truest praise for Tony is his ability to create and maintain the tale of the tragic hero. In a world full of hopelessness and despair Tony was able to bring this character full circle in a way that would endear him to anyone. The character is extremely well written and his character is explored in depth. I would seriously want someone like him with me if a zombie horde attacked my city.

The story begins with a bang and ends softly; not yeilding it's twisted secrets until literally the very last pages. It was a great mystery that made you believe one thing while throwing you something completely different later. From start to finish it is a book worthy of reading and re-reading.

I would most certainly recommend this novel to anyone with the slightest interest in action or horror, or for those who love all genres and are just looking to read a really damned good book. I really and truly hope that this is not the last we've seen of Tony Monchinski...the world is a better place with writers of this calibre.

    Painful to read

This book was all over the place. I could never keep track of any sort of timeline. One minute the main character is running into a trapped family's house, the next he's in Eden trying to determine his next move against his possible murderer. Then your in the sewer with a team of guys trying to find out what happened to another settlement and the next chapter your back at Harris' house as he waits for his wife during the initial outbreak!! ARGH!! Very difficult to read when you're trying to connect with Harris but you can never keep track of what he's going through and when. Horrible!

    Awesome Zombie Story!

Monchinski does a fantastic job of intertwining a mystery with apocalyptic zombie destruction. We really felt we knew the characters in this book and were left wanting even more.

The reader is taken through the character's story, bouncing between the present and the past and is challenged to keep up. The author's method was refreshing and entertaining. This was a page turner.

The violence was extremely graphic and felt very realistic. The author knows how to make the reader feel like you are there witnessing the event firsthand.

The author portrays the dead as the traditional Romero type zombies, which made the book even better.

Of all the apocalyptic novels we have read, this ranked in our top 3 books. We highly recommend this book to all adult readers.

I've been a zombie fan for 30 years and this is probably the best book on the subject book I've ever read. It takes a few chapters to get use to the style but once you do, it really takes off. A must read for true zombie fans.

    Book for mature reader.

For all those who LOVE zombie books - this one it's perfect if you have good memory. Action is skipping in time a little but it's just a reason to implement more twist and turns. Truly 3dimensional characters in a story different then others - I was surprised that so many new things can be added to genre who eats his tail for last few years. My advise is - buy it, read it, focus - as you will be thrown in the middle of the action immediately. Every bit of information has it role to play and as you will read the book you will finally see pieces falling into right places. Go ahead and give it a try! At the moment EDEN is a trilogy (got all the books, I've read them, I love them), fourth one should be released soon.

Did not care for the editing

I have run into this problem before with books from Permuted Press; misspellings, punctuation in the wrong place, confusing syntax.
The chapters jump around chronologically in the book, which I don't care for. The writing does not flow well enough for the author to use this technique.

    Engrossing Read!

I have been on a Zombie reading binge over the past few months. Of the two dozen Zombie genre novels I've read, this book is by far among the best. Reading this book was like experiencing a virtual roller-coaster ride due to the non-linear writing style. I never knew where or when the next chapter would take me and each time I was pleasantly surprised by the destination.

If you are new to the Zombie genre I highly recommend this book as one of your first reads!
