Edgar Krahn: A Centenary Volume (1894-1961)
Edgar Krahn was the co-author of the celebrated Faber-Krahn inequality thesis connected with the Rayleigh conjecture and one of the first to consider isoperimetric problems in the multidimensional case. This book commemorates his 100th birthday and surveys the major implications of his work in this century. These subjects include conformal mapping of surfaces, applied significance on higher order osculation, the Rayleigh conjecture and the Faber-Krahn inequality thesis. Separately, Krahn's contributions to hydro- and aerodynamics, random walks and applications of probability are discussed.
