Living on the Edge can be murder.

He's lost his edge.

Photojournalist Cache Calder lives to chase a great story. He's just returned from the Middle East after surviving a suicide bombing that left him injured and grief-stricken. The last thing he wants is to travel to the wilds of Alaska on a "Where Is She Now" Assignment. But when his editor informs him that his subject is former kidnapping victim, Amelia Bennett who jump-started his career twenty years earlier, he packs his bags.

She lives on the Edge.

Mel Bennett's carefully maintained control unravels the moment she meets Cache Calder. Attraction flares for the man who seems to really "know" her. No one at the Edge of Reason Lodge is aware she was the young teenager who'd survived one of the most publicized kidnappings in recent history, and she wants it to stay that way. But she starts to question her heart and her sanity when unexplained incidents begin to happen and a deadly threat returns to finish what he'd started so long ago.

A Peek Inside
Mel closed the door and he heard the click of the lock fall into place. His heart leaped in his chest. She held his gaze as she sauntered toward the bed. He slid over and threw the covers back in invitation. She paused and his heart skipped a beat.
Don't turn back now, baby.
Mel flicked off the lamp next to the bed, and the evening sun filtered the room with seductive shadows. Slowly, gathering the folds of her nightgown, she raised it until her knees were free to climb onto the mattress.
He gave in and grabbed her, yanking her into his arms. His lips captured hers and he held her tight to his chest. A groan, hers or his, he wasn't sure, vibrated between them.
She tore her lips free. "Better make this worth my while, shutter boy."
He flipped her over onto her back and rose above her. "Never pressure a man to perform."

AWESOME BOOK......I love a great Romanic suspense novel and I love living in the great state of Alaska, so in was only natural that I would read a book that has both of these. Tiffinie Helmer delivered in her newest release “Edge” The Edge opens with Cache, a photojournalist, being sent to The Edge of Reason Lodge, to get the “Where is she now” story on Amelia Bennett , who was kidnapped when she was of the tender age of 12 and her story made to the cover to People magazine. It was such a major story, that a TV Movie was produced telling her story to the world. Cache was recovering from his own trip to Hell, he had survived an insurgent’s bomb while working in somewhere in the Middle East, that took the lives of his two closes friends. Not only had he witness his friends being blow to pieces, his leg was shattered, held together by pins. Talk about a heavy case of survivor’s guilt. Our lodge owner was none other than Amelia “Mel” Bennett. She loves living out in the middle of nowhere, where people don’t know about her dark past. Living in Alaska gives her the escape she craves. She is perfectly content being alone, till she meets Cache Calder. The attraction between these two characters is all most instant. Cache awakens Mel like the one no other man has before. What Mel doesn’t know is that Cache was the one who took that world famous picture of the rescued 12 year old. Yes, you can see where this story is heading…. Mel and Cache both had deep emotional issues and Tiffinie did a great job of keeping the readers engage in those struggles. I couldn’t help but admire Mel, she was one tough cookie, after everything she had been through. However, her pride in her strength could be her downfall, for someone is tracking her every move and her refusal to ask for help could cost her, with her life. “Edge” is also full of some great secondary characters and if you had read any of Tiffinie’s other books, you may even recognize one of them! The story takes place in Homer, one of the most beautiful areas in Alaska, Homer has always been a favorite of mine, and I feel that Ms. Helmer gave such a wonderful descriptions that you’ll feel like you are on a virtual tour. This Alaska Chick was thrilled to read about such places as the Homer Spit and the Salty Dawg Saloon (even own an Alaskan classic, the Salty Dawg Hoodie). Everything was so real, that for a moment I forgot that the Edge of Reason Lodge didn’t existent. Edge was an emotional roller coast ride from the beginning and I enjoyed every minute of the ride

I loved the way Ms. Helmer made the reader feel they were actually in Alaska. The Edge of Reason Lodge and the setting it's in, is a character of the book as much as Cache and Mel are. The reluctant attraction is electric from the beginning. The story was a perfect balance of suspense, chemistry and story. If that makes sense. I highly recommend EDGE! Well done Ms. Helmer.

I'm a huge fan of Tiffinie Helmer's Wild Men of Alaska Series. I've been looking forward to her debut full-length novel for SUCH a long time! This book has everything in it. Danger and suspense. A family dynamic that will lift you and leave your teary-eyed. And a sizzling romance that leaps off the pages and into your heart. The hilarious cast of characters and subplots immerse you into the untamed setting and weave you through the wild-life, the dangerous weather, and something even more sinister that you'll never see coming and will leave you breathless. I won't give away any spoilers, but I know I can't WAIT to read about Garrett next. That's what Ms. Helmer does the most. Gives you what you want, but leaves you panting for more!

This was my first time reading from this author. I kept thinking throughout that I was reading a Nora Roberts suspense book. I enjoyed it very much and will read more of her books.

Tiffinie continues to awe me with her unique and amazing writing. This book will transport you into her book. The details are so vivid. I have never been to Alaska but after reading this book I feel like I just took a vacation there. This book played out like a movie in my head. It has a unique storyline. You become engrossed from the very first page. This book pulls you. There is lots of nail biting suspense that keeps you wondering what will happen next. I couldn't stop turning the pages. All the characters in this book stand out making them unforgettable even Tom with his constant accidents LOL Tiffinie blends mystery, suspense, action, emotion, lust, passion and romance perfectly. This book was very well written. This book will stay will me for a long time to come.

This book had it all for me. Compelling characters, and action-packed plot, and enough heat to melt the polar ice caps. Tiffinie Helmer's dialog consistently rocks my socks. Every one of her characters comes alive in my mind. Masterfully written!

Funny, sad, chilling, and hopeful all in one, Tiffinie Helmer’s Edge is a gripping must read. Mel and Cache leap off the page only to pull you back in with them. The setting is so detailed, Helmer created a visceral world of Alaskan adventure. Any one of her characters has enough history to warrant their own book and the family of misfits that live on the Edge is one I’d happily join. The romance that blooms throughout the book, provides a wonderful contrast to the terror experienced by the main character, Mel. Having survived such a terrible ordeal as a child and the publicity that followed, she turned into the one of the strongest female characters I’ve ever read. Cache brings out the vulnerability in Mel that makes her relatable. My favorite kind of wounded hero, Cache has his own tragedies to cope with, but instead of wanting pity, he’d rather give up his whole world to protect the woman he’s found to love. Once I started reading, I couldn’t put this down. Even at two in the morning, I couldn’t find a good stopping point. I can’t wait for Hooked coming in May.

Cache and Mels past lead them to a meeting again after 20 years. Mel and her estranged sister mend past hurts. Throw in a Russian with secrets. A Alaska Fish and Game Trooper. A maniac bent on revenge and a hoot for a cook. Tiffinie Helmer has written an amazing story. One which characters stay in your mind. A plot with twists and turns, with romance, wild aninals and breathtaking scenery. I look forward to reading more of this author.

I've read all of Ms. Helmer's stories, and all have been excellent, but Edge is my favorite. Her characters jump to life from the first page. Mel is a great character with brutal past, but she's moved beyond that and created a wonderful life for herself. The only thing she's missing is a man. Enter Cache who's looking for a story, but falls in love instead. Their romance is sizzling. The secondary characters add plenty of depth and emotion to the story, and the setting is amazing. Congratulations Ms. Helmer!

This story has it all. Action, adventure, humor, a sweet love story and even heart-wrenching family relationships that were a surprise. I highly recommend this book. I've read everything from this author and she has delivered every time.  And her Alaskan descriptions make me want to visit bad.

I love a strong woman lead however, If the characters were truly strong, smart women they would know enough to not push their stubbornesss to the point they endanger those around them.  Truly smart strong women can admit to needing help for that alone is why I have to knock this down a star.  It would have been a really great book except for that.

This is the first of a new series by Tiffinie Helmer, and if Edge is the clue into what is to come, I think the series will be a great success. The author is obviously well acquainted with the area of which she is writing, and although I am not an outdoorsy person by any means, she makes me want to visit the area and enjoy the scenery. The characters all have a story and I hope the reader gets a little bit of updating on how they are progressing as the series continues.

I'm so glad I bought this book. It's worth every penny. Sexy and romantic with really fun characters who come with their own flaws and hurdles to overcome in life. Emotional, heart-warming, and romantic. It flows effortlessly--a page turner that kept me on the edge of my seat. I love the Alaskan setting, it made me feel like I was there. Sexy hero, feisty heroine, just what I love.

You'll find humor, romance, and suspense at the Edge of Reason Lodge! Loved this book! I've never been to Alaska and am not much of a "roughing it" type of person, but reading this story makes we want to visit and she what it would be like to see the beautiful surroundings, lack of technology, and small town feel! Maybe someday I'll make it! And now a bit about the story... Amelia Bennett was kidnapped at 12 by a fanatical religious cult leader set on making her his wife and daughter. When she didn't give him children he planed to sacrifice her to God. Somehow, she got away and Cache Calder (a recent photojournalist graduate) snapped her picture capturing all the emotion in print. This sparked his career and he was doing great, until a bomb in the middle east killed the his two team mates and best friends and left him with a bum leg. As he sat a home and contemplated his life, his editor Tom (a slick New Yorker) located Amelia and wanted him to the 20 years later story on her. When Tom and Cache arrived Amelia's lodge as guest under different names he had no idea she hadn't agreed to the interview. Wondering what else Tom was keeping from him, he got to know Amelia, now Mel, better and fell in love.  All is going well at the lodge until Tom has a few mishaps - falling into a porcupine, getting hit over the head by the supposed poacher / intruder who had been stalking the Edge for a few weeks, and finally getting caught in a compromising situation. Secrets come out and set everyone on edge at the Edge of Reason. I don't want to give any more away, pick up your copy today!  Favorite passage: "I know what you are thinking." "That it's a shame to make a bed we could crawl into?" And don't miss Hooked, coming May 13th, 2013.

I was caught off guard from this book from the first paragraph to the last which truly pushed the reader to the edge. Traditionally in romance, you don't often find the sort of determined and dangerous characters who live cut off from the urban world and pitted against nature and each other from the start, and are the better for it. Which is what I most enjoyed about Edge. It pushes the limits of both the characters and readers, going places and doing things only the adventurous dare to. I fell in love with the wild nature of Alaska and its inhabitants. As the story also touches close to home in my town with similar circumstances from a similarly traumatized young woman, EDGE reminded me that even when you are dropped off the edge of your limits there his hope that you can still climb up the cliff.
