Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

Carroll Pellegrinelli, About.com Guide
“When I think of homemade gifts, I instantly think of homemade jams and jellies, cookies and spiced nuts. Lucy Baker goes way beyond those gifts in Edible DIY. I've gotten so many cool gift ideas from Edible DIY that I can't wait for the holiday gift-giving season to begin. …If you're someone who needs an excuse for buying this book, I've got one for you. Everyone of us has at least one person in our life who is often giving homemade gifts. Typically, these gifts are for a specific reason, and sometimes they are for "just because". They will be thrilled with this cookbook. You'll be pleased too, especially if your one the many recipients. If you're one of the gift-givers, you deserve this book. Think of all of the people who will benefit from it.”

Cheryl Krocker McKeon, bookseller
“Lucky recipients of yummy treats from Edible DIY will never guess how easy they were to create. … The user-friendly appeal starts with a calendar of occasions and suggested recipes for each. (Even Rosh Hashanah gets a list, with four apple and honey recipes.) …Baker doesn't skimp on quality ingredients, but most of these goodies are economical. She includes mixing directions for a few drinks that deserve their own party, like Cucumber-Jalapeno Vodka and Crema di Limoncello, but stresses that "bottom-shelf" booze works just fine. …As rewarding as cooking from this delightful book may be, it might be smart to buy one for a friend and wait for the "share" part to come back your way. --

Shelf AwarenessDiscover: A cookbook with easy recipes for unusual and delicious goodies to serve or give.”

What’s Cooking column, Tucsoncitizen.com
“Baker, a self-taught cook, has gathered recipes that are inexpensive, easy to prepare, and delicious.  This cookbook should be especially popular with home cooks who like to gift scrumptious treats to friends and family members. … a fun cookbook …a perfect inspiration for holiday giving.”

I have really enjoyed this cookbook. There is a nice variety.

I have really enjoyed this cookbook. There is a nice variety. The directions are clear and concise and there aren't any unusual ingredients that would have you rushing out to a specialty or gourmet store to purchase. Most of the ingredients I have on hand. My family has enjoyed each thing I've made. And since they're all so picky that's saying a lot!
