This booklet features the Technology Integration Planning (TIP) Model introduced in Chapter 2 of Integrating Educational Technology into Teaching. Based on a systematic instructional design process, the TIP Model addresses problems and planning needs unique to using technology resources in teaching and learning. NOTE: Readers may notice that most scenarios and problem exercises focus on middle and high school levels. Although the question of whether or not to emphasize technology uses at lower levels remains controversial, this booklet reflects the position that a greater number of demonstrably effective uses of technology are at middle and high school levels.
The scenarios in Chapters 2-16 are designed to address ISTE's National Educational Technology Standards for Teachers (NETS-T). A listing of the NETS-T and the correlation chart are on the inside covers of this booklet.
Educational Technology in Action is one of a set of ancillary resources that expand on topics introduced in Integrating Educational Technology into Teaching (Roblyer, 2003). Its problem-based format can support introductory instructional technology courses, methods and issues courses, administrative methods courses, and workshops on technology integration.
