Overview

A new standalone novel from the #1 New York Times bestselling author, Vi Keeland.

The night I met Drew Jagger, he’d just broken into my new Park Avenue office.

I dialed 9-1-1 before proceeding to attack him with my fancy new Krav Maga skills.

He quickly restrained me, then chuckled, finding my attempted assault amusing.

Of course, my intruder had to be arrogant.

Only, turned out, he wasn’t an intruder at all.

Drew was the rightful occupant of my new office. He’d been on vacation while his posh space was renovated.

Which was how a scammer got away with leasing me office space that wasn’t really available for rent.

I was swindled out of ten grand.

The next day, after hours at the police station, Drew took pity on me and made me an offer I couldn’t refuse. In exchange for answering his phones while his secretary was out, he’d let me stay until I found a new place.

I probably should have acted grateful and kept my mouth shut when I overheard the advice he was spewing to his clients. But I couldn’t help giving him a piece of my mind.

I never expected my body to react every time we argued. Especially when that was all we seemed to be able to do.

The two of us were complete opposites. Drew was a bitter, angry, gorgeous-as-all-hell, destroyer of relationships. And my job was to help people save their marriages.

The only thing the two of us had in common was the space we were sharing.

And an attraction that was getting harder to deny by the day.

I think I've read every one of her books and just when I think there couldn't be a better one, I'm proved wrong. Once I started this book I couldn't seem to put it down. Late nights and stolen moments were what it took just so I could continue being wrapped around this story. I was sad for it to end but enjoyed reading it so much. Read it, you won't be disappointed.

AMAZING! Marriage counselor Emerie Rose and divorce attorney Drew M. Jagger meet on New Year's Eve when he finds Emerie in his office. She believes she scored a deal when she rented the Park Avenue office, only to find out that she was victim of a scam and Drew is the rightful owner. The attraction between Drew and Emerie is immediate. So when Drew, feeling sorry for Emerie's situation, proposes that they share the office until she can find a new place, Emerie says yes. Will they fight their attraction? What secrets is Drew hiding? What happened to him in the past that made him avoid relationships? I loved Egomaniac! The story is amazing and captivated me from the first page. The banter between Drew and Emerie is hilarious. And the sexy scenes? OMG! So HOT! I loved the little drama and finding what happened to Drew. And Emerie's story? So beautiful! Emerie Rose is a marriage counselor. She loves her job and loves helping people. She moved from Oaklahoma to New York because of Baldwin, her crush. She is very sweet, kind, and a little naïve. Drew M. Jagger is a hot, cocky, arrogant, dirty mouthed, divorce attorney. He doesn't do relationships. He has been burned in the past and from what he sees at work, love isn't worth the heartache. Vi Keeland gives us, once again, an incredible book with an amazing story and great characters. Egomaniac is a sexy and funny book that will capture your heart!

Egomaniac by Vi Keeland is a standalone romance told in dual POV between two of my favorite characters to date. Emerie is the Psychologist and marriage counselor to Drew's jaded divorce attorney. In this case - opposites really do attract! There hasn't been a book Vi Keeland has written that I haven't adored. She is up there with my favorite authors and definitely a must-read for me. I truly feel like with relationships and people in general some people just click and for me some writers just click. Their writing style, the stories they tell, the characters they create - click, click, click!!! Emerie is a strong female in a bad spot and the typically jaded and closed off Drew pretty much comes to her rescue. In the end they end up rescuing each other and making each other better. From the best meet-cute yet, to the journey they both take to get their happily ever after, this book is a gem. Enjoy!

I would like to start this review by expressing my regret for having never picked up a VI Keeland book before. I now realize my mistake and plan to rectify it as soon as humanly possible. Egomaniac was on the fringes of the books that I usually read, so I almost passed up my chance to read it. I can not tell you how glad I am that I didn’t pass, it was such a great book. I was very pleasantly surprised by how emotionally connected I felt to this book. Egomaniac is on the light side, for me, but it was rich and varied in the emotions in evoked. I had picked it up for a bit of light reading after reading a heavier book but it wasn’t nearly as light as I had been expecting. It was actually the perfect balance of light and heavy. I appreciated the short moments of comedic interlude and fell in love the heavy themes that were the backbone of Emerie and Drew’s story. Vi Keeland did an excellent job with her character development and growth in this book. I slowly fell in love with both Emerie and Drew. Emerie was sweet and naïve but grew into a strong, fierce woman who fought for what she knew she needed. Drew, on the other hand, was jaded and cold, forged by deceptions from his past, his growth into a person who loved and trusted with abandon was quite lovely to behold. Egomaniac was quite well-written and kept me wholly invested in what was going to happen next. I was impressed with Ms. Keeland’s ability to lead me to believe that the story was going in one direction then completely surprise me with a turn I didn’t quite see coming in the way I anticipated. The situations that Drew and Emerie faced in this book and the way they dealt with the hardships they faced kept me fully invested in them finding their happy endings. Vi Keeland will be going on my list of go-to authors when I need something a little different from my usual reads. Her writing is engrossing and he obviously cares greatly for her craft. I am highly impressed with her ability to draw me in to a story and care deeply for the characters she has created.

This may be my favorite Vi Keeland book. Drew is definitely a wonderful hero. Dirty talking, sexy, but still with a sweet side.

As expected this book was an awesome read! I would definitely recommend Egomaniac! I read this in one sitting and just absolutely could not put it down. Just a few pages in she had me laughing out loud! So much so that people around will start to look at you funny. Drew and Emerie will have you laughing with their funny back and forth banter and getting upset with Drew because of his "Egomaniac" personality. If you are new to Vi Keeland, this will not be the last book you read of hers.

4.25 stars--EGOMANIAC is the first installment in Vi Keeland’s contemporary adult TIGHT SPACES erotic, romance series. This is attorney Drew Jagger, and psychologist Emerie Rose’s story line. Told from dual first person perspectives (Drew and Emerie) EGOMANIAC focuses on the growing relationship between divorce attorney Drew Jagger, and marriage psychologist Emerie Rose. Returning home on New Year’s Eve to New York from a two week vacation in Hawaii, Drew Jagger finds a strange woman has set up business and taken over his office space only to discover that she had just been conned in a rental scam losing her life savings to a man who illegally sublet Drew’s office. What ensues is the building relationship between Drew and Emerie, and the growing friendship that will lead to something more. Emerie is a recent newcomer from Oklahoma to New York following a man she thought she had loved. With no place to go following a scam that caught her off guard, Drew offers Emerie office space in exchange for answering his phones to help pay back the money that she lost, and the legal fees she is about to amass thanks to Drew’s legal assistance and advice. Drew is a single attorney with a heartbreaking past but a past that controls the strings of his heart. Drew is a cocky, smart mouthed, dirty talking alpha male who becomes protective of the woman with whom he will fall in love. The relationship between Drew and Emerie is a friends to lovers romance. Drew has been burned by a previous relationship and isn’t willing to give love or marriage a second chance. Emerie is a woman whose heart is torn between the man with whom she is falling in love, and a man that sees our heroine as only a friend. The $ex scenes are seductive, erotic and intense; their sexual chemistry is palpable and hot. We are introduced to Drew’s best friend and private investigator Roman Olivet; Emerie’s neighbor professor Baldwin Marcum; the requisite evil-Alexa-a woman from Drew Jagger’s past; and little man Beck who will soften anyone’s heart. EGOMANIAC is a friends to lovers, romantic comedy. There are moments of heartbreak and sorrow, friendship and love, romance and a happily ever after. The premise is fun, sexy and entertaining; the romance is provocative and captivating; the characters are passionate and playful.

A beguiling romantic comedy not to be missed. Keeland’s vivacity comes to the fore with witty, flirty dialogue which is tempered with heartwarming moments full of all the feels. Emery Rose moved from Oklahoma to New York to be close to the man she’s been infatuated with for the past three years. She found a great deal on Park Avenue office space and was almost ready to start her new life until someone attempted to break into her office on New Year’s Eve. It quickly became apparent that Emery had been the victim of a scam and when Drew offered her to stay until she found a new place in exchange for light secretarial work, she couldn’t turn him down. But can polar opposites cohabitate? He’s a divorce lawyer working to permanently separate couples while she’s a marriage counselor and from the moment the meet they can’t seem to stop fighting? Drew Jagger hates New Year’s Eve, it brings back nothing but bad memories and heartache. So when comes back from vacation and he discovers someone has broken into his newly renovated office he’s not at all pleased. That is until the burglar turns out to be a skirt dropping, drop dead gorgeous redhead with a sassy mouth and fiery spirit to match. She drives him crazy with her unwanted and idealistic opinions on relationships every time they argue, which is constantly. But as they start to share meals, office space and a bit of each other’s lives, they fall in an easy, albeit somewhat warring, relationship with an explosive attraction. But when Drew’s past threatens their budding relationship, will he fight for it or let her go to protect himself? Have you ever jumped right into a book not entirely knowing what to expect other than being certain you’ll enjoy it because you’ve read the author before? It’s a pretty great feeling when all your expectations are met. Egomaniac made me laugh, smile, swoon and even giggle from the start to finish with its charming characters and sweet plot even though I had some initial doubts. When I first met Emery I thought I wouldn’t be able to relate much with her. She seemed too naïve for the angry and jaded divorce lawyer. But my doubts were soon put to rest because the redhead firecracker was more than up for the challenge to deal with the sexy alpha male with a dirty mouth. With a title such as this one I was expecting not just an Egomaniac hero, I was expecting a @ssh*le. But Drew’s bitter and angry walls where built to protect him from getting hurt and they were no match for Emery’s sweetness and optimism and revealed a sexy, thoughtful and melt your heart swoon worthy hero. These two were great together, from their delightful meet cute, to their semi-antagonistic back and forth to their sizzling chemistry and heart melting happy ever after. I highlighted cute, funny or sweet in every other page. I couldn’t get enough of them and when I got to the end I remembered Jane Austen and her quote “If a book is well written I always find it too short.” Egomaniac is a standalone contemporary romance by author Vi Keeland told from both points of view. If you like feel good rom-coms full of laugher and wit this is a good book for you.

Yet another example of why Vi is one of THE BEST! I loved everything about this book and read 99% of the thing in one sitting. The thing I love the most about Vi's writing is how real her characters are. They act, talk and think like real people do. This book was no exception. When something was bothering Emerie, she said so. When Drew became completely overwhelmed in the beautiful epilogue, he acted the way a real-life man would act. Emerie and Drew's initial meeting was so...unusual. I was intrigued and eager to see how it would play out. And, true to form, Vi didn't disappoint. An element was added to the story that, to me, I usually try to avoid when selecting my romances. (Trying not to spoil anything!) But Vi incorporated this element perfectly, and it actually added a great deal to the storyline, and I loved it. Funny-at-times dialogue, weird happenstances and smoking hot love scenes all mixed together perfectly to create this amazing contemporary romance that I will, no doubt, be reading again and again! Bottom line, I will read ANYTHING written by Vi Keeland! (I received a copy of this book in consideration of an honest review)

Who expects a jaded divorce attorney to be a white knight but that is exactly what Drew becomes to Emerie when he finds her squatting in his office after returning from vacation. There are so many things that I love about this book. The book is told by Drew and Emerie both so as I read along I got better insight into both their lives. Also as the book unfolded we make trips back to Drew's past. I think that made the story more intriguing to me. Is it too mean to have wished something bad would of happened to Drew's ex-wife... Both Drew and Emerie's personalities had me rolling with laughter. Their word play is hilarious. Drew is used to woman fawning all over him and I think that the fact that Emerie doesn't makes her more attractive to him. Egomanic is a perfect description for Drew. The stunts that he pulls with her white board are great! I knew as soon as I heard what their phone passwords were that this was going to be a great book and it was. It's not often that a book makes me put life around me on hold and this book did. I read this book straight through just because I couldn't put it down. It is absolutely amazing! I hope there is a future book about Roman.

How to find the words to sum up how much I LOVED this book? Seriously, it was PERFECTION. Sweet, sexy and completely captivating. I was addicted from the first page to the last and devoured it whole in one day. I laughed, cried, swooned and melted. What happens when a bitter, jaded yet completely irresistable divorce lawyer meets his match in a spirited marriage counsellor? Read this book to find out. This is exactly why when Vi Keeland publishes a book I RUN to read it.

5 “Egomaniac” Stars! Witty, fun, sexy, sweet and truly romantic! I couldn’t get enough of this one! The Review: I’m a huge fan of Vi Keeland but I truly think this is her best work yet! I loved everything about this read. From the moment this book opens, you know you’re in for a delightfully fun and sexy read as the two mains meet in the most unexpected of ways, leaving you loving this story well after you’ve hit the last page. Story/Characters... Drew M. Jagger is a New York lawyer who has just come back from vacation, only to find his newly renovated office mistakenly occupied by a fiery redhead who instantly draws him in. Normally he’s a screw ‘em and leave ‘em kind of guy, but for some reason he can’t explain, he can’t seem to let Emerie leave. Emerie Rose has just moved from Oklahoma, following her best friend and a man who she has secretly had feelings for since college, to New York. Thinking she got a great deal on office space, she’s completely thrown off balance when the hottest of all landlords shows up and claims she’s been swindled by a con man. Right from the start, these two embark on a lively comedic encounter, to be followed by some brilliantly written moments that start them off on a journey that’s sure to cause these two opposites to clash. I was instantly taken with Emerie. She was down to earth, realistic and full of light. And when her heart was invested, she was all in, never wavering back and forth. She was so cute and just a perfect match for our hero. Drew was crass, brash and seriously sexy. YUUUMMMY! And though he played himself off as a player, he was the epitome of “bad boy with a heart of gold” because his situation and his past totally brought the “feels”, yet he was lovable and funny and full of life. This book was filled with intelligent, playful and spicy banter, infused with heartfelt moments that delivered a sweet romance between two completely different types of characters. Drew was a divorce attorney jilted by love. Emerie was a marriage counselor who believes love can conquer all. Their strong chemistry is undeniable and together, these two wade through a riveting story you couldn’t help but connect with, while swooning, laughing and feeling those delicious chest pangs all at the same time! The Wrap Up: I honestly didn’t want this read to end. I loved all those little sweet moments between Emerie and Drew. They stole my heart and left me wanting more. If you only read one romance this year, it HAS to be this one!
