I'm the American wife of an Egyptian and I have been searching for a cookbook that focused specifically on the Egyptian style of cooking. I found using recipes from general Middle Eastern or North African cookbooks didn't quite produce the flavor my husband was accustomed to. So naturally, I was so pleased to finally find Samia's book. The recipes made it easy for me to replicate my mother in law's dishes using ingredients I can easily find at the local grocery store (or better yet a Middle Eastern grocer if you have one nearby). Having the Arabic names written using English characters also helps me when my husband only knows the Arabic name of a specific dish and/or ingredient. Some of the recipes can be time consuming, but well worth it. This book will definitely become a staple in my kitchen. My local B&N has a very limited selection of Middle Eastern and North African cookbooks, so if yours is anything like mine you're better off ordering online.Was this review helpful?
