Editorial Reviews

School Library Journal - School Library Journal
Gr 4-6-Hull retells seven traditional Egyptian tales, including a creation story, an account of the murder of Osiris, and a story about King Solomon. An introduction explains facts such as how Egyptian life was connected to the Nile River and how hieroglyphics are translated. Unfortunately, no references are cited as to the origins of the selections or as to how much liberty was taken in their translations. The full-color, two-page illustrations make this volume more appealing than Roger Lancelyn Green's Tales of Ancient Egypt (Puffin, 1990). Though not the perfect book in regard to historical background, this slim volume adds another dimension to other nonfiction treatments of the subject.-Cathryn A. Camper, Minneapolis Public Library
