Meet the Author

Fue un escritor, periodista y activista inglés que nació en 1660. Se lo considera el padre de todos los novelistas ingleses porque fue uno de los pioneros de ese género, con la mundialmente conocida Robinson Crusoe. Se le atribuyen alrededor de 550 obras, entre poemas, panfletos y novelas.
Tuvo una vida intensa. Varias veces estuvo preso o en la picota, ya sea por deudas o por su actividad política. Participó en la rebelión del duque de Monmouth contra Jacobo II, escribió panfletos y estuvo al servicio de diversos gobiernos, entre otras actividades.
Falleció en 1731 cuando estaba en la clandestinidad, huyendo de sus acreedores.
