Editorial Reviews

Criticas
Gr 1-3-These books have a polished and up-to-date look. The author explains why the United States celebrates various national holidays and gives brief details about the events and personalities honored in each of these observances. Although El dia de los presidentes naively explains that the Civil War was singularly about slavery, the other details in the books seem accurate, diverse, and less regionalistic. The strength of the books lies in their visual impact. The photographs in El dia de accion de gracias show diverse families enjoying a turkey meal. These titles provide enough information for beginning readers. They may even prove useful for high-interest/low-reading-level audiences. The only drawback is the titles use English capitalization conventions rather than the appropriate Spanish system. Overall, the books are easy to use and the information is accessible and accurate.
