Overview

Sometimes a small detail can decide everything, and the one that shapes the protagonist's career is the briefcase his mother has given him as a gift upon getting his first job. On inauguration day, the chief of staff of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs trips over the briefcase and immediately reassigns its owner to the the Eastern European and Siberian division of the Department of Developing Countries, also known as the Russian front. The banished owner, a bit naive, attempts to build a career within the Ministry, although he doesn't always succeed. A hilarious satire with bitter undertones that resonates with anyone who has ever worked in the business world, this novel was first published in France in 2010 with great success.
