What would you do if you were stuck on an island alone with only little resources to survive? This book was a mediocre mystery that was filled with adventure and a thriller. The main character is a young person named Brian Robeson who is going through a tough time because his parents are divorced. On a weekend he went to go and visit his Dad. Something goes wrong and Brian ends up alone and he needs to learn how to survive without his parents. He uses the resources around him. It is a very creative and intriguing what the setting was and what happened to Brian Robeson but Gary Paulsen did not do a very good job writing it. It did not leave me as hooked as I wanted to be. But overall Hatchet was an average book.
