Juan P�rez de Montalb�n (Madrid, 1602-1638). Espa�a Juan era hijo del librero real que edit� el Busc�n de Quevedo sin la anuencia de �ste. Sus antepasados eran jud�os conversos. Estudi� teolog�a y se orden� sacerdote a los dieciocho a�os, deviniendo notario de la Inquisici�n. A los diecinueve a�os escribi� su primera comedia. Fue el disc�pulo predilecto de Lope de Vega y adversario de Francisco de Quevedo, que lo ridiculiz� varias veces en sus obras. Escribi� unas cincuenta obras teatrales de diversos g�neros. A la muerte de Lope de Vega compuso la Fama p�stuma (1636), elogio y primera biograf�a de Lope. Muri� sumido en la locura.
