Meet the Author

Rick Riordan
Rick Riordan
Rick Riordan is best known for his bestselling YA series Percy Jackson and the Olympians and for a series of award-winning adult mysteries featuring San Antonio P.I. Tres Navarre.

Biography

Percy Jackson and the Olympians is a terrific YA series by former middle school teacher and mystery writer Rick Riordan that revamps Greek mythology in a fun, fresh way kids find enthralling. A trouble-prone teen with attention deficit disorder and dyslexia, Percy is the half-blood son of Poseidon, one of 12 Olympian gods making mischief right here in 21st-century America. Praised by critics, librarians, and teachers, the Percy Jackson books have been honored with numerous awards and appear consistently on The New York Times bestseller list.

The series grew out of a sequence of bedtime stories Riordan invented for his son Haley -- who, at eight, had just been diagnosed with learning disabilities. Although Haley was having trouble in school, he loved the Greek myths and asked his dad to tell him some stories about the gods and heroes. Riordan ran through the standards from mythology, then began to invent new tales featuring some of the same characters and introducing a brave boy hero enough like Haley to make things interesting!

Haley begged his father to write the stories down, and in 2005, The Lightning Thief was published to excellent reviews. It was an instant hit with preteens, who loved the concept of a kid much like themselves -- i.e., embroiled in the everyday problems of school, family, and relationships -- embarking on heroic quests, soothing vengeful gods, and battling monsters.

In addition to Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Riordan also writes books for adults, most notably a series of high-octane Tex-Mex thrillers featuring private investigator Jackson "Tres" Navarre, a complicated loner with an offbeat pedigree. (Tres -- pronounced "Trace" -- is a tai chi master with a Ph.D. in medieval literature who turns to detective work when he is unable to find a teaching job!) The first novel in the series, 1997's Big Red Tequila, scooped the Anthony and Shamus Awards, two of the three most prestigious prizes for Mystery & Crime fiction. Riordan completed the trifecta when his sequel, The Widower's Two-Step, won the coveted Edgar Award in 1999.

Between the two series, Riordan remains incredibly busy. For several years, he balanced writing with teaching English to middle school students. Reluctantly, he has left teaching (a career he thoroughly enjoyed) in order to write full-time, but he still harbors hopes that someday he'll return to the classroom. Meanwhile, he makes frequent visits to schools and enjoys meeting young readers on his book tours.

    It's Okay/ Esta bien

This version of the book, in spanish, is badly translated. Some of the sentences don't really make sense and some parts you can tell it was translated word for word and it really doesn't make much sense. Some things don't even mean the same as what was written in the original english version. But, if you only read spanish, it's okay, and most of the story is clear./

    [&psi}¿|BLESSED BLOOD|¿{&psi]--part two

First, I would like to thank you all for reading this story, and remember, rate and review it, make a character app at 'elven' result one. Also one that note: I dont need any mor sons or daughters of Nyx. Anyways, next part at next result. -&psi- "We will start after lunch. I asume you all want to know how this works, for there are only four winners, not half of the camp." Chiron said. Henri, Zaeya and Megan nodded. "Well, we do things as usual, but this time, we are picking teams. Jerome and Clair are in charge of the teams. There are traps all around the camp, aiming to make your chest hit the ground. You are out if your chest hits the ground. We will know if you are out." Chiron explained. "How will you know?" Zaeya asked. "Don't worry about that." He said waving his hand. He looked over his shoulder and saw the campers still gathered. "Camp dissmissed!" He shouted. All the campers got into thier little groups and went back to thier cabins. "Now, you three. I want you to stand gaurd at the entrance. Two at a time. Henri, Megan. You take first shift." Chiron said as he waced them off. "But-" Zaeya started. "No questions." Chiron said, cutting her off. "Something is bound to happen bow. Alert the camp if you see something. Zaeya will come in an hour." Chiron finished as he galloped away to the big house. "Well, see you in an hour." Megan said to Zaeya as she stalked of to the enterance, Henri hot on her tail. When they reached the entrance, Megan said, "I can't belive I am doing this." She muttered under her breath. She unsheathed hor sword and twirled it as she sat down on a stump. Henri grabbed a spear that was laying on the ground and picked it up. They waited, and waited, and waited, it seemed like forever because they were not talking to each ither. With fifteen minutes to go, Henri fell asleep. He was awaked by the call of, "Attack on camp! To the front gate!" Megan was up and ready, killer in her eyes as the barrier spasmed under the hits of an unseen enemy. Henri jumped up and grabbed his spear, getting into a crouch. Only a few campers arrived when the barrier shattered and a flaming ram charged camp.-&psi- Thank you for reading, part three at result four. Again, thanks!

To all the people insulting spanish people.

You people have no brains whatsoever. You are like so racist. I can easily report those comments to Barnes and Nobles and they will do something about it. Wait, I forgot something. You people are all jealous because we are smarter than you will ever be. And I can talk because from 6th grade I skipped all the way into 9th. Now you probably failed a grade or two. We have a lot more morals than anyone else. So get rid of your old fashioned racist pig ideas, and GROW UP?
