Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
It is Joey's first day of school and he is feeling frightened and anxious. This is the Spanish text version of the book Joey's First Day. Children can relate to Joey's first day jitters as they follow him through the day: from getting his backpack ready in the morning and getting on the school bus, to the activities at school and going back home again. This book will help the reluctant child as she prepares for her first day of school. This book is part of the "Read- It! Readers" series. The readers are divided into levels: purple, red, blue, yellow, green, and orange; this book is at the first level, purple. There is a note to parents at the beginning of the book that explains the levels and how parents can use the stories with their children. At this level the reader encounters basic topics and objects, high frequency words, and simple language patterns. Other "Read-It! Readers" are listed. 2006, Picture Window Books/Capstone Press, Ages 4 to 9.
