Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Maria E. Gentle
Singer Gloria Estefan's second outing into the juvenile market is much like her fist time out. Now we find Noelle, the cute bulldog looking for treasure. After her young owner reads her a story of a sunken Spanish galleon full of silver and gold, Noelle has a dream. In her dream, Noelle finds herself in the high seas, where she meets some sea worthy characters: a seagull, fashionably accessorized with a black eye patch and a wooden leg and a giant turtle, among others. Once awake and armed with instructions on how to find the treasure (these instructions were revealed in her dream) Noelle sets forth on her treasure hunt. She comes across a family of baby turtles and helps them find their way to the sea. Eventually she finds something shiny poking out of the sand. What is it? Why, it is a bejeweled crown! Noelle returns the crown to its rightful owner, the king of Spain. The story ends with a moral; life is our treasure. The story told in rhyme and digitally illustrated with big colorful digital art is cute and will probably keep children entertained. The best thing about this package is the CD which contains one song: "Ve Mas Alla," a song that celebrates life. This is a book to be used at story time or when a book with a moral is needed.
